Correct, but still insensitive. Juneteenth is up there with the 4th of July. Holidays based in reality > holidays based in fiction.

Eliminate all Holidays. We have an unlimited work cycle 24/7 with tech. Full employment should be a thing.

 

People who come and go whenever the damn well wish are super bothered by the help getting time off.

 

I wonder if Sentience Day, the day that the first AI demonstrates feelings will become a Federal Holiday since the AIs will be running everything before too much longer?

Healthcare and emergency workers are like “what’s a holiday?”

It was a bank holiday. So banks. Stock market closed. No mail. Etc. I’d assume many govt offices closed for bank holidays; probably except for certain states that don’t recognize the day. I doubt any “retail” closes, but that’s true for basically all of the holidays except Christmas and Easter.

 

Our CEO does Ask Me Anything sessions and someone asked him if we get all Federal Holidays off. He said yes thinking it was existing policy but it immediately gave everyone in the company two more days off.

 

True. Hell for those hospitality categories certain holidays are probably some of their busier days, since the office workers have that time off.

 

I really do have to point out to you that government offices are not businesses, don’t I?

Last time I checked our government and businesses don't shut down nor is it a paid holiday, so maybe classify it like Columbus Day

Unless the earth’s rotation changed, it’s always been Dec 21st, or perhaps the 22nd due to leap year. Like I said, I’d be fine with dropping Xmas and adding winter solstice. The two days have nothing to do with eachother, other than Christians hijacked another holiday under false claims… as you have pointed out and we agree….
