You don’t have to be on the roster to be involved in practice. You have to be on the roster to suit up for games. That hasn’t changed.
Stated or not, I do not see some major shift in gravity or other things that designate something new and profound. When I see teams being dinged for not following your "outright-stated" policy going forward, and that includes the "creative accounting ideas" I presented for argument sake, THEN I will entertain the thought of a new reality. Again, I am merely asking folks who are proclaiming "normalcy" or "new regime", are you sure? It doesn't meet my standard of a major change. As I said, I am jaded.
They raised the scholarship numbers by a couple and lowered the roster numbers by a couple. I don’t see anyone claiming any of the other crap you’re talking about. It’s not a huge change and it shouldn’t cause anyone to be “dinged”. The rules are straightforward. You don’t need any “creative accounting”. This will not prevent you from having other walkon type players around the program and participating in practice. There just won’t really be any roster spots for them anymore. Those guys have always been around as grad assistants and team managers. You just won’t see as many walk-ons playing in garbage time unless teams choose to not use all of their scholarships.
