College Gym News Recruiting Roundup plus Pan American Games:

Recruiting Roundup: June 13 - College Gym News

Things are about to get very interesting when the class of 2027 becomes officially recruitment-eligible on June 15th. But then again, are things ever not interesting in college gymnastics? This week sees some exciting elite competition plus the continuing aftershocks of the coaching changes at Cal and Clemson.

    Pan American Championships
Hezly Rivera (LSU, ‘26) leads a strong five-person team for the Pan American Gymnastics Championships in Panama City, Panama. Three other top recruits, Tiana Sumanasekera (UCLA, ‘25), Dulcy Caylor (Florida, ‘26), and Jayla Hang (Florida, ‘26), will also compete in the competition which takes place June 12-15.

I'm guessing that Hezly Rivera will never perform for LSU since she has deferred through the 2028 LA Olympics.

All 4 of UF's 2026 recruits are good enough to have been on the US Pan Am Team. To say the 2026 class is loaded is a major understatement.

    8. Madison Boyd

I make note of gymnasts Jayla Hang follows on Instagram. She knows talent and I suspect she encourages gymnasts she likes to consider UF. Of CGN's 8 5-star recruits, Jayla is following 4; Josie Lynch, Claire Pease, Lia Monica Fontaine, and Reese Esponda.

Galilee Vestnys has Utah listed as a college choice on her Instagram so she is likely headed to Salt Lake City.

Madison Boyd isn't followed by Jayla, but she is at Brandy Johnson's Gym. UF gets its fair share of gymnasts coming out of there, Jocelyn Sasson this year via a transfer of gyms from Seattle to Brandy Johnson's.

CGN's top 4-star recruit Brooke Reingold is also followed by Jayla Hang.

Jayla Hang is following 5 of CGN's top 9 recruits, a good sign.

Visit the page for CGN's 4 stars and down as there is no easy way to cut and paste their rankings.

College Gym Fans and College Gym News only agree on 5 of each other's 8 5-star recruits. We'll see, but I think CGN except for their OU favoritism usually does a better job. In that favoritism regard for OU, the Sooners have gotten CGN's #1 recruit for several years in a row. Considering this, I wouldn't be surprised to see Eliaveta Grebenkova end up in Norman.

As of Sunday, 6/15, all recruits are open season for recruiting.

Rising Star Jayla Hang Wins 2025 Pan American Gymnastics Championship

Hang put together an impressive effort during Friday’s joint-team qualification and all-around final. The future Florida Gator delivered the top scores on uneven bars and floor exercise, helping Team USA qualify in first for Saturday’s team final and qualifying for all four individual event finals.

Her total score of 55.300 marks the highest score at a continental championship in 2025. With her result at today’s meet, Hang is in contention for a spot on the team headed to the 2025 World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.

U.S. teammate Dulcy Caylor (future Florida Gator) was just behind Rivera in the all-around, finishing fourth before the two-per-country rule. Caylor, a finalist at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials, posted the highest U.S. score on vault, but will not participate in the apparatus final due to not competing a second vault.

The Women's Gymnastics Team finals will begin at 3:30 CT today.

Women's Gymnastics Individual Events finals will be held on Sunday afternoon.

The US Women's Team blew away every team in the competition, not close:

Jayla Hang has proven to be the best women's gymnast in the competition through the first 2 days of competition and with individual events to come tomorrow.

The Men's Team finished first as well.

Some of the best in the world was not in Panama City, Panama, but that is usually the case. The next meet bringing together the best in the world will be Worlds in Jakarta, Indonesia this fall.

LSU and Oklahoma fans have got to be saying Oh Shit! about what they know they will be facing over the next 3 to 4 seasons at UF. It doesn't help LSU that Hezly has deferred through the 2028 Olympics.

Jayla has been on a roll in the 2025 elite season. She is College Gym News 2nd rated gymnast, but I believe that that top spot should belong to Jayla as well as the 2026 UF class being #1 instead of #2.

Dulcy Caylor did extremely well too. Having Jayla and Dulcy represent so well is not a surprise to me.

The UF 2026 class is as good as you can get. The class can only be better if UF were to somehow pick up another national and international talented and experienced gymnast in the class.

I feel certain Simone Rose and Kieryn Finnell would have done extremely well too had they been on the US Pan Am Team. All 4 are high quality proven 5-star gymnasts.

More backfill on UF's 2026 recruiting class:

Hang, Johnson go 1-2 in Pac Rim Championships all-around • USA Gymnastics

Jayla Hang, Simone Rose, and Kieryn Finnell are three members of the class that went 1, 3, and 4 in the Pacific Rim Games at the end of April 2024:

CALI, Colombia (April 27, 2024) – Jayla Hang (Bellevue, Wash./Pacific Reign Gymnastics) and Madray Johnson (Dallas, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics) locked down the all-around podium Saturday evening at the 2024 Pacific Rim Championships, winning all-around gold and silver, respectively.

With both women finishing well ahead of the rest of the field, Hang took gold (54.800) and Johnson silver (52.950) in all-around competition during the women’s artistic session. Hang posted solid scores across vault (14.150), uneven bars (14.250), balance beam (13.850) and floor exercise (12.550) to come out on top. Canada’s Kahlyn Lawson won bronze with a 49.850. Americans Simone Rose (Sammamish, Wash./Pacific Reign Gymnastics) and Kieryn Finnell (Pittsford, N.Y./RGA) had the third (52.350) and fourth (51.050) highest score of the night, with Rose not being awarded bronze due to the two-per-country rule.

Madray Johnson at 2 is an Oklahoma 2026 recruit.

Add to this future Florida Gator Dulcy Caylor was on the Pan AM Games 2025 with Jayla Hang.

You can see why I consider Jayla Hang to be the #1 gymnast in the 2026 class regardless of what is listed with College Gym News. Jayla is the constant over time plus she is having a great 2025 elite season, nobody better.
