Came across a funny story that Schotty told about the HBC… Brian Schottenheimer just told a great story about his time playing for Steve Spurrier at Florida: "I'll embarrass myself here for a second. So senior year, we're going to Thanksgiving dinner. We always played Florida State on Thanksgiving weekend. So what we always did, we always went to Coach and Miss Jerri's house for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday after practice. So I was senior, I did throw the first touchdown pass of that season. I’ll put that out there before I embarrass myself. But I got relegated from second string to third string, about halfway through the season. I got passed by Doug Johnson, who had a really, really good NFL career. But so we're lining up for dinner -- supper, as Coach calls it. And he's going around the room, and he's asking everybody what they want to drink. And I'll do the voice, he's like 'Danny, whatchu want to drink, milk? You want something like that?' And he's going around and he's being gracious, and he's getting everybody's order. And he looks at me, and we make eye contact, and he goes, 'Well, shit Schotty you ain't playing in the game. You want to have a beer? And I was like 'well hell yes I do, coach. I'll have a beer.' And we sat there and drank a couple Coors heavy's together. Cuz he doesn't drink Coors Light, he drinks Coors heavy. The original. And I didn't play in the game, so... I did signal my ass of though, I was really good."
That's right. There's breakfast, dinner, and supper . We always ate Thanksgiving Dinner around the middle of the day, and rightly so. And it's not just in the South. I'm sure everyone here has heard of the Last Supper. It wasn't the Last Dinner.
