Tonight is black-eyed peas with ham (not enough for a full course for everyone) and hot dogs. Hebrew National and no ketchup. Chicago rules in our house. Hot German mustard and kraut with an option for Chicago relish and celery salt as well.

Don't have pickle spears but we have ball park mustard, Chicago pickle relish, sport peppers, onion and tomatoes for a Chicago dog missing the poppy seeds on the bun. We do have some Vienna beef dogs in the freezer for real Chicago dogs but Hebrew National is a very acceptable substitute. When i want to really get it right I make a butter wash and sprinkle poppy seeds on the bun.

Didn’t get this posted earlier as we took supper over to Kayla and John Luke’s house for John Luke’s Mama’s birthday. Alan and his family were also there.

I grilled BBQ chicken. We made barbecue baked beans, coleslaw, deviled eggs, and Ms. Jan’s homemade potato salad. We also had fresh sliced tomatoes and cucumbers.

We had a homemade coconut cake and a strawberry cheesecake for birthday sweets.

Tumblers of bourbon and chilled wine was available.

Making carnitas tonight for tacos. Not really authentic because I use only pork shoulder and "real" Mexican carnitas use even lesser cuts of meat like snouts and trotters. When cooked on a large scale the entire hog is used.

Tonight I’m grilling thick cut bone in center cut pork chops. Our sides will be a pot of fresh petite butter beans and au gratin potatoes.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine will be available as desired.

I’m grilling us cheeseburgers tonight. We’ve got a bowl of coleslaw sitting in the fridge to go with them.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine are the ticket today.

I didn’t get this posted yesterday—We went to our Jasper Downtown Boogie. Once a month they block off both ends of Main Street. On one end there’s a stage set up for live music, various bands come in and play. There are a variety of groups set up with advertising and giveaways (Alan Horne State Farm’s team tent participated last night).

Street vendors are set up all up and down the street. And you guessed it, we had street tacos for supper!
