Finally was able to watch a game. If they want to grow this league, they need to improve TV production quality. Right now, it's bush league. Shakey camera from the outfield used for the pitch. Then, if a hit, behind home plate coverage through the netting. It's like having crappy seats at a MLB game where you are a zillion miles from the action and get the gist of what's happening, but not the close-up excitement. I can't believe ESPN is putting their name on this turd. A causal tv viewer who is channel surfing is going to move right by. OTOH, makes me appreciate the coverage we get for NCAA games.
Jordan Roberts with another bomb. They are playing on a field with a 230 foot center fence and she cleared it. I've missed some of the game. I don't know what Amanda has done. I turned it on in the bottom of one just as Skylar was scoring so she got on but I don't know how. I do know in her second ab she hit a rbi single.
I don't think it is that bad. First of all, you've got some of the best of the best playing. I never really noticed a terrible production. What bugs tonight is they are playing in Sulphur, Louisiana. I don't know who plays there but there is apparently a huge crowd. But they are playing on a baseball field with those crappy shortened bases on the infield grass. That, to me, is an insult to both the fans and the players. There are countless excellent parks they can play in from Gainesville, to Baton Rouge, to College Station. I don't get Sulpher, LA. Who actually plays there regularly?
I would add....I've watched every season of Athletes Unlimited...I think this is the sixth. I've enjoyed every season. I don't think it has ever been a subpar production. This year is the first year they've gone to a set team, instead of a weekly draft, for the season and playing by standard scoring rules instead of the individual scoring system they used in the past (and that Tim uses for intrasquad games). MLB has just recently joined as a partner to pump more money into women's pro softball. Next year they are going to a minimum of six teams and each will be based in a permanent city as opposed to this year with a roaming season. I think it is a pretty good product that just might get better by a lot.
Yes i like it. Amanda jsut made a great base running play to put them ahead. I love the fact this is not all in Illinois now. Bringing it to the south where it needs to be.
Amanda is 3-4 tonight and goes first to home on a hustle play on an overthrow at first. This isn't a bush league operation. Never has been. It would take two pages here to list all of the great players playing in this league we have watched with admiration for years. Far more than just Amanda and Skylar. It is interesting and some of the highest level ball we could hope to watch played by super players who wouldn't be there playing in a bush league operation. They are playing the country this year from Seattle to Tuscaloosa. Permanent cities next year and an expanded league. I truly believe that if anyone here watched multiple games through this season they would agree with me that it is well worth watching.
Game winning hit for Skylar that she blasted off of Rachel Garcia's leg and it bounced straight to second to throw her out. We're now in the bottom of the ninth. Not sure where they are in the lineup....she might get another chance to win it.
Jordan has played all six seasons. Because of her off the charts power. A year or two ago she hit a bomb that actually went all of the way to the interstate on ramp at Rosemont. Everybody just gasped when she hit it.
I'm not going to bother piling on Mia. I'm more concerned that posts on this thread and the transfer portal thread indicate that it wasn't a secret she had an offer from Tech - and she remained not only on the team, but in the starting lineup. Either CTW knew - which I find concerning, or he didn't - which I find maybe more concerning. Even if she denied it to him, her performance drop off since that time should have been a huge red flag. And her teammates had to have known. No wonder there are rumblings about the atmosphere in the locker room.
Welcome corner infielder Madison Walker from Mizzou. Her stats from this past season show some pop in her bat
TT. Bag men and fans will expect perfection and a Natty. Anything less will be a failure. Let me be the first predict the year will end with a lot of disapointed people in Lubbock.
Living in Ohio, beating the Bucknuts in Arizona for the National Championship has been the absolute highlight for me as a Gator grad and a diehard fan. That could be surpassed however if our girls marched into OKC and spanked TT and that transfer person with the nutcase mother. Go Gators
As has been witnessed many times in a tournament setting the best team does not always win, and I'm not sure TT will be the best team. Lots of things can and will happen.
Yes the game is played between the lines on the field and not on paper or with money. The spinning ball always finds mistakes or weaknesses.
As we witnessed in 2014, the hot team wins and the rest of the season is forgotten. By the way, it may have been my most favorite season and ending. Gators win! (Gators beat Bama to top it off)
