The purity of softball was the biggest draw for me back in the day. It’s a shame that purity is all but gone. I felt it was criminal that after college softball was over the careers of 99% of these amazing athletes playing days ended. The US national team only has so many roster spots and the past “four team”professional leagues have been pretty much a joke. Maybe this one will be different, maybe it will expand into a full fledged proper league? A 30-32 team professional league comparable to what Japan has is something I wanted to see for years so as many talented players as possible could continue their careers. Of course that can’t happen without interest/demand and above all money. Money corrupts. I’m happy some of these amazing, young athletes are getting paid. I’m sad the purity of the sport I love had to die in the process.
Kylie Shaw has committed to Auburn. While I haven't seen any official announcement, On3 is showing Taylor Pannell 100% to Texas Tech.
One of the first things I looked for when I started watching last season was a professional softball league, I had just assumed if there was baseball there would be softball, based on the talent and the following college softball has, and how much more fun it is to watch than baseball, it seemed like a no brainer to me. I was very surprised to find there wasn't one, save for Athletes Unlimited, but that wasn't really what I was expecting.
On3 is now showing sophomore FAU SS Kiley Channell from Keystone Heights, FL as 38.1% to Florida, 33.3% to South Carolina and 28.6% to Clemson. She has started every game in her 2 years at FAU, hit .330 this year (.333 her freshman season) and in 179 official at bats only struck out 11 times. She was tied for 2nd on FAU with 44 RBI and only made 9 errors, though her fielding % was only .946. She would be an important pick-up if we can get her.
I believe she is the player they talked about on the reddit transfer thread mentioned a few days ago, they said she was one of the shortstop's referred to in the infamous rant as already being on board. Guess we'll find out soon enough if they're right!
She should. Patty was only able to get hers because they got raises lol. We know OU doesnt hurt for money. Tennesee has the money as well but im sure there were some bad feelings there cause I guranteee you Karen knew if everyone else did. Probably told her to go if she wasnt 100 percent in.
But jsut the fact that Mia and Pannell have been rumored since at least April and it happened is all you need to know about distractions for teams and tampering.
I wish OU would lose someone too because Patty wouldn't sit back and be quiet I dont think. Even though they do it too. I do hope Karen says something. It'll be fun
I agree but patty has the money not to lose someone. OU is jsut getting beat at their own game right now. Which secretly i kinda love cause its funny to see their fans upset lol wven though they havent lost anybody.
