Mind you there have been plenty of ICE raids across the country, but Trumps master plan was to do it in LA where he knew they would react in this way…. Guess that’s the 3D chess thing again.
So explain why ICE raids across the country didn’t result in this elsewhere, since that was his plan?
I just don’t want to read some of this junk anymore. I get it that millions of people in this country are going to support Trump and his ilk regardless of how cruel they are, how many lives they ruin, and how much harm they cause to America and the world. You’re blocked.
There is a pretty important timeline here. Basically, overall, ICE deportations are actually way down this fiscal year. As such, the White House summoned ICE leadership and Miller apparently told them to change tactics and basically harass people at 7-11s and Home Depots (the report was that was the two examples he utilized) to boost the numbers. The choice was made to focus this boost largely in LA. Why LA in particular? Maybe it is to impress the OC native in Miller. But the general speculation is that the Trump folks weren't thrilled not just with the numbers but with the lack of evidence in the form of a fight. They wanted their fans to see deportations, which they largely wouldn't see without some sort of a fight (heck, they told those folks that we had open borders when we were deporting hundreds of thousands of people per year, but they didn't see those actions). So now they have their fight. For their fans, this fight is proof of concept and, in many ways, a way to relitigate the fights that they think they lost in 2020 over race.
so this is all speculative then. If you change the channel i'm sure you can find more speculation on this although that might not fit the messaging you want.
The meetings about harassing people at 7-11 and Home Depot and the fact that they chose to focus this effort in LA are not speculation. Motive is speculative, as it often is.
Since the right likes to do this as a coping mechanism, I’m going to do the same. These are clearly paid protestors from the right who are part of the deep state, duh.
I don't think anyone is arguing that there hasn't been looting and vandalism, the argument is that the extent of those crimes has been greatly exaggerated to support the narrative that the police were incapable of handling the crimes and that activation of the National Guard was necessary along with deployment of US Marines. According to the LA police chief, the LA Police Department with assistance of other police departments in Southern California and the California State Highway Patrol (used primary to clear the 101 Freeway) has been more than capable of handling the situation and that the National Guard and Marines were unnecessary and that he never requested federal assistance despite Trump's statement to the contrary yesterday.
Really? Because people didn’t see enough deportations? Sorry not buying your explanation my news feed has been littered with dozens of articles about raids all over the place and the mass deportations of the these poor innocent souls.
Yeah, they have been pushing it hard in the right-wing media sphere. But that is the report from the WSJ. Miller was not happy about the lack of deportations and was worried that people wouldn't see enough of it (Miller wants it to be nearly every story).
Actually I see the stories posted nonstop by my liberal friends on facebook as well as on apple news. I honestly watch zero network news and only listen to CNBC.
This makes me think...I ordered some bricks for construction work months ago, they've yet to arrive. Should I tell that that I'm "starting a riot" so they can get delivered to me sooner?
That’s not really the point. Perhaps some states supported ICE raids. CA didn’t. They didn’t want this but Trump did it anyway. If CA didn’t want this, how does CA benefit from it? Did you know that some of the national guard troops that were deployed were taken off border operations to do this? Did you know that some of the national guard troops are police in the LA area as their day jobs, and by deploying them they are not available as police? Did you know some of the national guard deployed were working on fire prevention operations? Did you know that LA had to redeploy some of their police, in order to protect the national guard troops from protesters? This is all theater. It’s a created crisis.
