Dyestats form charts for the upcoming NCAA Track and Field Championships predict UF’s men team to finish with only 14 points and well out of the top ten. Surprisingly USF (That’s right the University of South Florida) is picked to win the team title, primarily because of their sprint and relay strength. The women are somewhat more highly regarded predicted to finish 6th, just behind Oregon in 5th.
I actually think it would be awesome if USF won if we can’t. Being from Tampa and having school projects where I used their library, graduating HS in the SunDome, I’ve always had a soft spot, especially since they don’t have the same delusional borderline bizarre unwarranted arrogance UCF has. And they are the better school. It would also help us directors cup wise, the only three teams that could possibly pass us realistically are UGA Duke and Arkansas. USF winning knocks them all down a peg and lowers those odds. So go Bulls!
Well so far tonight our men’s 4x1 ranked 13th finished 21st and our 7th ranked 110H runner false started. So 2 of our few points possibilities are already gone. Don’t know how this meet will end, maybe some of the remaining folks will over overperform, but I know mouse is gonna blow up the men’s team after this season. Just a complete mess by his standards.
Our 400 guy was 1.5 seconds off his seasons best and finished dead last. But Clemons won the LJ, awesome job by him. Huge 10 points we desperately needed.
And our javelin guy threw a PB and finished second. 18 points now, which was more than were were projected total to have coming in. Give the field coach a raise, and fire the track guy . Likely no worse than 16th or 17th now even if the 4x4 bombs out. Only other scoring chances are Friday in the discus and TJ, but neither are seeded to score.
we just ran our B team in the pre lims and barely made it in the 4x4. Mouse is building for next year also, really dont be to critical. If we were fully charged up we would be up there to win the national title. Things didnt work out the way they planned but still could jump 30 pts if things fall right which would be major with all the injuries we have had this year. This is not a bad coaching job this year, actually been pretty good considering. They were counting on 5 pts or so from the 110 hurdler but he couldnt keep his composure in the blocks. But several teams have fallen apart today. It is an interesting championship one thing that gets me is all the distance runners from overseas who are "freshman" but are 24 to 26 years old. Even the TN 400 hurdler is 22 year old freshman.
we should finish higher then that, Friday will be dominated by just a few teams. If our top guys are healthy we have a chance to win the 4x4. McIver and Braun both labored in the races they were in today. UGA looked awful today and that made me happy
Top ten is possible, but things have to break our way. Waters false starting in the 110 H.H. hurt , but Clemons and Cabrera Gay came through big time. Our top 400 meter guys have struggled with injuries all year, and our short sprinters never recovered. The NCAA Track and Field Championships have a different dynamic than any other sport… Clemons had the best of his season (on his 1st jump), and Cabrera Gay threw a personal best by several feet, Waters on the other hand false started (it happens). Timing matters, and injuries, while they matter in all sports, are especially devastating when they happen to two or three of your top performers in Track and Field. With the injuries being what they were, and with who they effected… top ten would be an excellent result, and a seriously fine job by Coach Holloway. We’ve benefited by the same circumstances that we now find ourselves in, but anyone that writes us off as done, doesn’t understand Mouse Holloway.
