Fair. I didn't go into the rewatch expecting it to compete with Andor, just with a new perspective and a curiosity of what that would bring. I thought it was a better movie than without Andor, but certainly not on the same level of story telling and character development.
Andor also had nearly 20 hours of screen time, Rogue 1 had just over 2. I will say when I rewatched R1 though it felt more Disney SW esque than I remembered. Not nearly to the level of 7 8 and 9, but I guess Andor was so good that way it seems lite in comparison.
Finished Andor on my own timeline with two young kids. I think comparing it to R1 is unfair simply because of the time constraints on a 2 hour movie vs a massive series. But both were great and I completely understand the parallels people are drawing between things like the LA riots and the Rebellion in Andor.
Kudos to Disney for pointing out that fear, control, and oppression is hard and takes more effort than freedom and love. The parallels to MAGA is palpable.
I thought they wasted the last 2 episodes trying to tie it up nicely with the movie, maybe Disney forced their hands a little when they greenlighted a second season. Everything was anti-climactic IMO after the hospital episode. We already knew Andor and Mon would be fine, so the stakes kind of lowered. Still one of the best Star Wars.
