another casualty. destroying another great american institution. doing our enemy's best work. he's a damn foreign agent intent on destroying what makes america great.

maybe he will take some of the extremely unqualified, highly partisan political appointees out of the florida college system and put them in dc. trying to find a silver lining

will congress ever take their constitutionally granted authority back or continue to bend over for MAGA

Fulbright board members, accusing Trump of politicizing the program, announce resignation - POLITICO

Board members of the Fulbright Scholarship Program announced their resignation Wednesday, protesting what they call the Trump administration’s politicization of the program, as the White House continues to find itself locked in a battle with universities around the nation.

In a memo released on Wednesday, board members said they voted “overwhelmingly” to resign in light of the actions of political appointees at the State Department, which manages the program. The 12-person board was appointed by former President Joe Biden.
    .....................

“This proud legacy has depended on one thing above all: the integrity of the program’s selection process based on merit, not ideology, and its insulation from political interference,” the board’s memo said. “That integrity is now undermined.”

The board said it has repeatedly raised legal issues and strong objections with senior administration officials, including in writing, but officials have refused to acknowledge or respond to the board.

Entire Fulbright board quits in mass revolt over Trump assault

The dramatic walkout of theFulbright Foreign Scholarship Board represents an unprecedented rebuke to Trump's destruction of academic independence, with board members—including New Hampshire Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen—accusing Marco Rubio's State Department of trampling decades of bipartisan tradition, the Daily Beast reported.

The Fulbright program, a crown jewel of American soft power established by Congress in 1946, has become another casualty in Trump's broader war against higher education and international cooperation. The program typically supports 8,000 scholars, students, and artists in cultural exchanges—exactly the kind of diplomatic bridge-building Trump consistently attacks.

Board members didn't mince words in their scathing resignation statement, accusing Trump appointees of taking "unprecedented actions that we believe are impermissible under the law, compromise U.S. national interests and integrity, and undermine the mission and mandates Congress established for the Fulbright program nearly 80 years ago."

Trump hates education, and people being informed. His laughable piques, of course, shouldn't matter.

But America has a lot of MAGA folks.

The Fulbright board is exclusively selected by the President. The current board are/were 100% Biden appointees. Among them were speech writers for Biden, political strategists for Kamala, but my favorite is Louisa Terrell who was Bidens head of legislative affairs and has known Biden since kindergarten. Their resignation is a political act from a political institution. Trump will select another 12 board members and the guy after that will select another 12 members, etc.

12 board members all agreed that what was happening is illegal and against their charter.
You think it is about personal and not substance. It's how the world's biggest victim does things and his followers nod in obedient unison. NEVER has the entire board resigned in protest to having their authority ignored. Same as Kennedy Center. More magafication with no respect for the rules or laws. No respect for the stated function of the organization, just another hammer he can use to punish opposition and reward sycophants

I am sure Trump will appoint highly qualified experts to the board like he did with the Department of Health, The Department of Education, the Defense Department, etc.
What is the cast of The Jersey Shore doing these days?

Maybe the group think shown by the 12 board members resigning in unison says more about them as ideologues than it does about the current administration.

Because the current administration hasn't shown a willingness to ignore the rules and laws? There would've been tons of lawsuits if they tried stuff like that..why keep trying to defend the indefensible? We have a potus doing the work of our enemies dividing us, destroying the institutions that make us great, abandoning our allies, and strengthening our enemies..and people still try to defend their bad shouce..smdh
