This says a lot about their character. Happy for them. Billionaire businessman Elon Musk said on Wednesday he regretted some of the posts he made last week about U.S. President Donald Trump as they had gone "too far". Trump said on Saturday his relationship with Musk was over after they exchanged insults on social media, with the Tesla (TSLA.O) and SpaceX CEO describing the president's sweeping tax and spending bill as a "disgusting abomination." Musk has since deleted some posts critical of Trump, including one signaling support for impeaching the president, and sources close to the world's richest man say his anger has started to subside and he may want to repair the relationship. "I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far," Musk wrote in a post on his social media platform X on Wednesday, without saying which specific posts he was talking about. I am not surprised. Would not surprise me to see him back visiting the WH. https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/t...=DM806829_06112025&s=acs&dkt_nbr=01050212puhq
Trump and musk are like a couple of jr high girls. Although trump didn’t spew his normal hate, tell him to rot in he$$ or mock an affliction, so that helped.
LOL - Musk called Trump a pedo and said he should be impeached. Now Trump loves Elon again. Elon loves Trump again. MAGA loves whoever Trump tells them to. Trump is about to add $3 trillion to the debt and MAGA doesn't care because ..... Trump!!! These people are actually (playing at) running our government, (supposedly) keeping us safe, (not) protecting us from pandemics, (clearly not) stewarding our finances. We're living Idiocracy. Calling this a clown show insults clowns.
Musk is like a petulant child sometimes if he doesn't get what he wants. Musk doesn't like he can't influence MAGA voters that much though. He learned that when he thought he could make DeSantis the Rep nominee and when he tried defending H1B visas as necessary.
Seems like Musk was going for the "I'm sorry you're a POS" apology. But it does work on low IQ narcissists.
Guess he got tired of lighting billions of dollars on fire. If he kept at it I’m sure Tesla’s board of directors (and possibly SpaceX’s) would have kicked him to the curb.
Said it in the other thread on the subject, when there is a conflict between an apparently powerful oligarch and an authoritarian Dear Leader the Dear Leader always wins. It's the leader who holds all of the cards. In the case of Musk the relationship was even further skewed in Trump's favor considering that Elon is not very likable while Trump's followers worship him like the leader of a cult.
H1Bs are not only necessary but have been a key component to the US being a global leader in technology. The fact MAGA doesn’t understand this isn’t surprising but it amounts to nothing more than self-sabotage to curtail the program.
Nonsense. They give out a ton of them beyond the few needed to truly brain drain the top scientists etc. H1Bs are basically a handout now to crooked big business to lower wages. Most of these crooked companies even force the Americans being let go to train their H1B replacements. It's a 100% disgrace. It's nuts the amount of loopholes that allow this purposely.
“The fact MAGA doesn’t understand this isn’t surprising” Amongst just a few, Elon Musk (no intro needed), Vinod Khosla (started and incubated several companies including as the co-founder of Sun Microsystems), and the CEO of Google/Alphabet all came to the US on H1Bs. These three alone have created in the order of three trillion dollars for our country and only did so because they came here under H1Bs. My company has hired the occasional H1B and I can tell you it’s a last resort for us because it’s a pain to deal with and that we don’t save any money because we pay immigration counsel costs and pay H1B workers just as much as their US counterparts.
'Necessary' for cheaper and more compliant tech labor. I'm not going to say that doesn't help bosses and investors in tech fields, but that's a bit of a rosy picture you are painting here - I'm not sure its a win for the labor side. There are plenty of non-MAGA critics of the program. Its like bringing outsourcing home to some degree. There is plenty of abuse in the program, and its often used in fairly corrupt ways. I think one of the early foreign investors in our soccer stadium got a visa hookup for his business as part of the deal.
Cheaper? I’m sure there are companies that take advantage of it but the three I’ve worked for have paid H1Bs just as much and that doesn’t even take into account all the additional costs we had related to it that we do not for a domestic worker.
