So actually you’re saying that ours is the only one that counts!

 

People can call that an arbitrary cutoff and it is but that doesn't take away from the significance. Population Demographics in the U.S. changed a great deal in 50 years as did almost everything about athletics including post season formats including today's version of the ncaa tournament which is more difficult by leaps and bounds due to parity and the size of the field. Im not a college baseball historian but I can only imagine today's landscape is considerably more difficult as well.

Point being if it wasn't such an impressive feat then some program would have done the same in 50 years but only Florida can claim it.

 

Michigan baseball in the 60s. Ohio State baseball and hoops in the 60s. Michigan State baseball also around that time. UCLA football in the 50s.

Stanford basketball I believe in the 40s.

Those fans are all in their 80s and 90s if not dead.

We are the only ones to do it in the color TV and the flat screen TV era. Only ones in this millenium.

We are the standard in college sports. I know Arkansas won their football NC in the 60s and not in the SEC but I want to remain the ONLY SEC school to do it.

 

You can actually take Michigan State off the list. They have no baseball NC.

The sport was dominated by northern and western schools for a long time.

Texas and Oklahoma both brought a resume with titles when they joined the SEC. So did Missouri.

Still not rooting for Arkansas. Not rooting for LSU either but what’s 8 when you already have 7?

And it didn’t take the Duke HC long to vacate his position after Murray St sent Duke home—he’s already accepted the Virginia job and moved on.

 

Don’t really know anything about Murray St but I hope they get to stay in Omaha long enough to enjoy their experience.
