There's a first Amendment right to a high paying, high profile gig at a major news outlet?

Dang...I feel like me 1st A rights have been violated, as i barely hang on to the privilege of talking my smack on this forum, anonymously, and for free....

Well, yall did fire him once (dubious as the circumstances were...), but we--along with a shit pile of remorseful folks of your ilk--rehired him.

Mahaps someone will hire this moron... er, Moran guy, again...

The dude is a grandkid of refugees...

im guessing there prolly were airquotess around the word "refugee", since most ppl--unlike Doh! Biden, and his shit bucket brigade-- don't figure it to refer to gang bangers, sex traffickers, fenty mules, terrorists, child rapists...

Btw, I'm sure you figured Tom Petty for a hate mongering racist, when he sung derogatorily about my refugee heritage...

(I certainly didn't. Might not have been particularly flattering, but I never took it as hateful).

If you’re going to go out in a blaze of glory, you gotta go out with something better than “he’s a world-class hater.” That is some weak ass shit.

The dude was the grandkid of refugees and as was pointed on in number of posts according Miller's own uncle if the same criteria for immigration that Miller is promoting now were in effect when his grandparents and great grandparents immigrated they would have never been allowed to enter the US and the entire family would have perished in the Holocaust.
Stephen Miller Is an Immigration Hypocrite. I Know Because I’m His Uncle.

Maybe non-opinion political reporters should not be sharing their political hot takes on social media and embarrassing their employer? This would have gotten almost any senior political reporter fired from a non-opinion position. Which suggests that Moran likely knew this was coming.

Because Trump is not a journalist. Trump answers to voters.

The bigger question, to me, is why do voters approve of his frequently unhinged rants.

    I do not.
I can’t remember the last time I saw him on tv and listened to what he said…

    I change the channel.

Either way, it was the correct stance, because a journalist has no business publicly opining on the people they cover. There’s no objectivity that can follow (even if Miller is objectively a world-class hate-monger)

Because you think his objectivity changed after the tweet? That there are similar reporters that think the same way as him but haven’t tweeted so they can be more objective?

And how far do you take this? Should a reporter be fired for having a Harris or Trump flag on their house or number sticker on their car?

I think he demonstrated he is incapable of having objectivity. Heck, I know what I think about Miller, and I know with my opinions I could not report on him as an objective journalist. To be sure, I think this is the standard that applies to all journalists (not editorialists or commentators, obviously), and I hope people and news organizations will hold their people to the same standards.

It’s not a problem with objectivity, it’s that you don’t like that he drew a conclusion based on things he’s learned. It’s a weird fascination we have with telling reporters they’re only objective if we don’t know what they think about a story/ facts they reported on.

He was out of line for a person in his position. It didn't come across as a sober, well-thought-out analysis. It came across like he was just another person ranting on social media.

I totally disagree with this. A journalist needs to provide us with the facts, and leave the formation of the opinion to each reader. When the journalist tells us his opinion, he has crossed the line of journalism. Stating it slightly differently, I have no problem with him having an opinion—an opinion of which I 100% agree with—I have a problem with him telling us the opinion, because by doing so there is no longer any room for the reader to form his own opinion.

But this is his twitter account, not his network on-air reporting. I can see your point if he had said this reporting on tv out front of the White House or something, but that’s not at all what happened. And yes, I understand that twitter has blurred the lines with journalists where they will release snippets of information on twitter.
