It's really just this simple. Otherwise go work for a tabloid for clicks.

In America's past, at least, I agree that "White" was more narrowly considered to be Anglo-Saxon or WASP, and as such, many did not consider Italians, Irish, or Slavs to be White or fully White. Today, I think "White" is viewed more broadly; I don't know anybody who would argue that Tony Soprano, Joe Biden, and Putin are non-Whites. Of course, this is all complicated enough (without getting to specific complications with Jewish people) given that the entire concept of "race" is largely an arbitrary human construct without clear lines.

From what I have seen, those who sound the alarms about the Great Replacement of White people have tried to avoid in-fighting because they do not want to risk splintering off into sub-groups while the non-Whites take over. So they have been trying to unify around a much broader idea of what it means to be White - one that is European as opposed to African, Asian, or indigenous. I think the vast majority of Americans today (including but not limited to White Nationalists) would generally characterize the Irish, Slavs, and Italians, etc., as "White." That's also partly why (in addition to LGBT and other social issues), guys like Richard Spencer and Tucker Carlson have so much fascination about and praise for Russia and Hungary, which they see as defending the interests of European culture and White people.

When evaluating the opinions of Jewish people as well as the perceptions of Jewish folks by others, that seems even more complicated due to historical, religious, and political reasons. Ben Shapiro has noted that being Jewish can be based upon ethnicity and/or religious identity, and he doesn't seem to talk about it as being a distinct race. He has noted that one would have to ignore a lot of history to claim that Jewish people are White in the Anglo-Saxon sense, and that makes sense for the reasons you note. But he's also stated that he is considered White both by the census and by most Americans. I see a poll from Pew in 2020 which reflects that two thirds of American Jews identify as Ashkenazi, and as many as 92% consider themselves White.

    https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2021/05/11/jewish-americans-in-2020/

I do not see a breakdown of conservative or Orthodox American Jews only. I also cannot confirm whether Stephen Miller considers himself White or not; I couldn't find a quote or source. It would be interesting and perhaps ironic to me if Miller does not consider himself White given that many of his critics attack him for promoting White interests while many who are praising and defending him seem to agree that's what he's doing.

After read what he posted, I don't think it was all that over the top, even if it is dead wrong. Maybe ABC is trying to find an excuse to unload expensive dead weight?

Ah, Mr. “Chicom” has his panties in a twist defending someone his own uncle finds abhorrent. Can’t say I’m surprised. I’m pretty sure you can look up the definition of “world class” in any dictionary and take the rest from there.

Pretty sure this dude would’ve been a Nazi collaborator in that time and place. There were small numbers of Jews who betrayed their own people and worked as informants, as police in the ghettos, etc.

It’s pretty sick seeing descendants of holocaust survivors and refugees from Cuba and other places taking this stance on migrants now. Strange uber entitlement combined with ignorance of history, although Miller is far from stupid so it can’t be ignorance in his case.

Can we get an accurate thread title, please? His contract was not renewed because of a mean tweet. Not a verbal attack.

We'll probably never know if this was a principled stand or if they just feared retribution from Trump. Objectively the easiest path.

How so? Moran is free to say anything he wants. However, he is not free from the consequences of his speech, getting his contract not renewed. His contract was not renewed by his employer, not the government.

He was and is free to say anything he wants and the decision by the network very likely based on fear of retribution will undoubtedly provide a disincentive to other ABC reporters who wish to express opinions critical of Trump and his administration.

ABC’s loss. Myself and many others will now not watch them because they bent the knee to some obese, orange makeup wearing dementia grandpa like a bunch of cowards. Stephen Miller is a literal Nazi, so who cares what the right wing snowflakes think in this situation.

Indeed. This is just the First Amendment at work.

(Including a criminal President threatening retaliation against people who speak against him, or donate to his political opponents. This is both quite normal and quite acceptable ....and exactly what our Founding Fathers intended!!)
