Agree with you on this. tRump did nothing to hide his racism, and relished in the cheers of lock them up. Falsely accused people of eating cats and dogs because he read it on some X rant. Lied and said he knew nothing about Project 2025, yet are running the playbook to the T. They openly supported a convicted felon and con man. It was all there for even the blind to see.

Just about every anti immigrant stance conservatives in this country have ever adopted be it anti Asian, irish, Italian, Jewish, etc has ultimately been repudiated. It’s weird to me that so many are so motivated to be on the wrong side of history about this.

    What a post…
    Who is against immigrants?
The stance is simply let them in after they’ve been vetted.
    Also capture the illegal criminals.

Well, that's really what conservatism is about though, isn't it?

That and promoting income inequality through debt-fueled tax cuts for the rich, and claiming a high level of spirituality which is only sometimes matched by actions.

While I think many would support what you wrote that’s not what’s actually happening in practice - you do know that right? What we are seeing is a sweeping campaign against almost all immigrants, even some immigrants that were previously here legally - it’s not just hunting down criminals. It’s hunting down anyone they can find - meanwhile conservative media blasts us with any stories of immigrant crime they can find in order to keep us afraid and to justify aggressive police action against immigrants broadly.

Start with these two pretty prominent voices on the right. Or would your prefer me to show you legislation cutting legal immigration? Or executive orders revoking the right of people legally in this country to live here?

I admit that I don’t like what Trump is doing or what it seems he’s doing with immigration.
I don’t like the apparent sweeping approach.

Previously posted these cartoons. It reflects the attitude of a lot of Americans towards immigrants in general and specifically towards Italian immigrants and during the early part of the 20th Century. The attitude towards immigration from Europe back then isn't dissimilar to the attitude towards immigrants from Latin American, African or majority Muslim countries today and it's that attitude that Trump is exploiting.

Just one question. How do you define criminal? Are you referring to individuals who have committed actual crimes or do you consider anyone who in the US without documentation a criminal whether or not they have committed an actual crime. FYI: Simple undocumented presence is not a crime. It's considered a civil offense.

It is not so much about the need to overcome moral failings as it is a matter of avoiding future instances of this form of willful blindness. Despite everything, I actually remain weirdly optimistic that people aren't all okay with this stuff morally. But their ability to blind themselves when necessary to avoid cognitive dissonance has caused great damage as well. You are right about what she may have thought. The issue is that she needs to make sure that the same biases and self-serving avoidance that caused her to think that doesn't occur again. Because, again, it isn't like Trump didn't say that this sort of thing would happen.

Reminds me of what some Americans said about immigration from Ireland during the 19th century or immigration from Eastern or Southern Europe during the early part of the 20th Century. My guess is that Matt Walsh is probably a decedent of those Irish immigrants. Once again a picture being worth a thousand words.

Voters hunger for mass deportations and Trump's approval numbers are rising.

From Forbes not exactly a liberal publication.
New Poll Rates Trump Poorly On Trade, Immigration And Ukraine
After more than four months in office, a new Quinnipiac University poll shows most Americans oppose his actions on immigration and deportations. Fifty-four percent of registered voters disapprove of “the way Donald Trump is handling immigration issues,” and only 43% approve. Fifty-two percent of independents disapprove, vs. 43% approve. Among Republicans, 87% approve, and 9% disapprove. Among Democrats, 4% approve of how Donald Trump handles immigration, and 95% disapprove.

FORBES HAS GONE WOKE - History, Politics And Current Affairs

Quinnipiac is a heavily biased poll. The only way to measure the accuracy of pollsters is to see how well they poll elections. Quinnipiac sucks.

Robert Barnes says that Rich Baris is "by far" the most accurate pollster. Baris on the new Quinnipiac poll:

Interesting that your immigrant examples come from groups that are relatively low crime, mostly white, high IQ and are people that build civilized societies.

California after the massive inflow of immigrants: from paradise to craphole. Melting pot or chamber pot?

London was 97% white in 1960. Now it's 37% white. How'd that Muslim immigration work out?

I think the group should be re-named from "Latinas for Trump" to "Blind Gullibles for Trump". How could any voter not see a crackdown on immigration coming with Donald "Build My Stupid Wall" Trump running for president?
