Coastal was the 13th overall seed and has won a national championship in the last decade. They never were a cinderella.
Just curious, why the UCLA hate? They are a way lesser evil than lsu or coastal in my opinion. Arkansas hasn't won a title in basketball 30 years and football goes back much further than that. If they win a baseball title and get into the 3 sport title club it enters bother me too much since they are so spread out. Florida will remain the only school to win all 3 titles in such a short period of time. Just my opinion. Screw lsu and coastal's coach doesnt sit well with me after the soap box grandstanding act.
With the new ruling on paying players directly, how will it work when you have year round programs like Florida and much of the SEC, versus single sport dominant programs like Villanova and Coastal Carolina?
With only 3 of the top 8 National Seeds remaining, and the top 2 playing each other in the first round, I am sticking with Murray State to win the whole thing.
So going into this week I would say these are the bear favorites - 1. Piggies - to me there are the clear favorite given their roster and how they have been playing. Issue with them is they choke when they get to this level of baseball but I would say if they do get past LSU then I thick they can get far. 2. Based upon what they have done far it would be Coastal Carolina. But I would say they have taken full advantage of a weak NCAA bracket getting to this point in time. They have not been tested at all and their coach is a first class asshat. They still have a favorable bracket but I when they do encounter a team with a healthy and favorable roster they will have issues. 3. Oregon State - not a fan of their program and beating up on an ACC team means very little to me but they have been play well and have some depth on their roster. 4. UCLA - again not really tested at all so is their pitching is good as what they have shown or not. If their pitching holds up then they are a possible team to look for if they play the Piggies in the second game. 5. Corndogs - again another asshat program but they have been playing well. Their issue is they are playing the Piggies the first game and if they do get into the loser bracket immediately I don't think they will have the pitching depth thus relying on high scoring games will need to happen to survive the loser bracket if that happens after the first game. 6. Arizona - traveling across the country to beat UNC is very good but do they have the pitching depth to survive this tourney or not if they get into the losers bracket. I doubt it. 7. Louisville - the only surviving ACC team - nothing else needs to be said - ACC sucks butt and they won't win anything. 8. Murray St - this is the only true Cinderella. Again they benefited by playing in the bracket they did and playing again an ACC team with history of choking at the super regional levels. They are not in a good part of the bracket at all. I think they will wear down after what they just went through. I think the hitting won't be there and the pitching will not hold up anymore. I expect them to be gone soon. Quite frankly I don't like any of these teams personally so beyond Murry St which will lose I don't see anyone I like for me. I think most of these teams do not have very much pitching depth once they hit the losers bracket. The common theme for most of these teams is they are healthy - injury free - and they happened to be hot hitting at the right time.
For me the anti UCLA is because they are little 10 now. Can't let the conference win any titles other than wrestling. Oregon State-the child molester issue still lingers for me. So no to them. And yes, I know it was years ago and a different staff but the stench is still there. LSU--for obvious reasons they are a no. Coastal-also a no for obvious reasons. Arky--would prefer not due to the 3 sport match. Lousiville-no because they are ACC. Arizona and Murray--I could be fine with either.
Always liked DVH, so prefer them over lsu at least... When does DVH get the 'LONR' title ?? *took me a minute to decipher that lastnight btw..lol
If Arky didn’t have a football or hoops NC, no issues. But they have both. The trifecta shall be ours alone.
Yea, I would be fine with the Hogs winning. Almost feel sorry for their fanbase, especially after recent post season failures from highly ranked baseball and softball teams. Don't really consider them a hated rival in any sport. Totally agree on LSU and their fanbase along with the coastal coach. Would be happy seeing Coastal go 0-2.
