Yes...exactly. The BOG has stepped in to tell UF what works for them and not the University without any experience in running a University. They dont care if the results of that lead to a demise in the quality of a UF education. We will soon have to rally around some lightweight handpicked Procrustean nitwit who will cut off his own appendages to fit nicely into the iron bed that our politicians have made. I'm not sure even Ben Sasse would interview for our position at this point...even if we looked away from his grifting....

That is one way of looking at it. Another, more nuanced, way of seeing it is the concept between the House of Representatives and the Senate. The House was designed to be the "Regular Joes" version of representation and can change gears quickly based on the political winds, whereas the Senate was designed to be more contemplative and focused on the big picture of governing the country. And, if I may digress, much more attached legislators to the state's executive branch - they used to be essentially ambassadors of the states to the US government and not elected - and allows the country's interests - Delaware, Mississippi and Alaska get just as many voters as New York, California, and Texas - to manifest rather than basic tyranny of the simple majority. That IS the reason for the electoral college (end of discussion, so I don't get edited).

And like the constitution was designed, each has their place to assure that one group can not be captured by special interests and relies on a balance of power (again, avoiding tyranny) instead of dictatorship. And, quite frankly, unless you are in the conspiratorial mindset of the current political environment, I see something more like a group who did not understand "balance of power" and thought they had fiat. That is either a symptom of stupidity, arrogance, or both.

Just because you or I do not like the outcome, we should not believe we are entitled to our demands. It don't work that way...ever.

If we can't all agree, we can at least get enlightened by new words and phrases. The sign of a good education.

For one, I had some real concerns with ono. I think there would have been trouble and the fit was not there.

    Right here
It’s certainly possible, but then we have to wonder why the UF search committee and board of trustees didn’t pick up on this lack of fit.
