The actions and threats of a scared little spoiled child. His version of holding his breath until turning blue.

He essentially conceded that elections are bought and bragged that he has been the most effective purchaser.

This statement deserves much more attention. A president threatening someone for supporting the opposition. In America. This is, IMO, an impeachable offense.

    ^ Absolutely.

But we've seen that Trump will commit as many crimes as the judiciary and Congress will allow him to.

And we've seen that the (Republicans in) Congress will allow Trump to commit as many crimes as their voters want them to allow him to.

So at the end of the day, we're witnessing a cycle of criminality that is obviously conducted by Trump, but is abetted and enabled by anyone and everyone who is willing to cast a vote for those who fail to hold him accountable. In other words, people who vote for the Republican Party.

We're seeing people empower a criminal organization that enables a criminal. As has been the case for the past 8 years. It's too late to do anything about it, but we might as well at least recognize it.

@vaxcardinal I’m curious, what is your defense of this statement from Trump?

Clearly you aren’t bothered by this, but what I am asking is why not. Do you think it is ok for the president to threaten consequences to a private citizen for backing the opposition? Eg would you defend Biden if he told Zuckerberg that he would pay if he donated to Republicans?

I actually do think this is why most mega rich guys donate to both parties (perhaps not in equal amounts). Trump did the same!

That’s just how he talks. Nothing comes of it. Haven’t you learned that yet?

Oh I would definitely contribute to both parties if I were one of those people. Mostly, because I don’t want all my eggs in one basket. Seeing a president publicly threatening someone for donating to the other side is still jarring.

So you are saying that the reason that it is ok for Trump but not Biden to threaten political opponents is that unlike Biden Trump always makes these kinds of threats?

I mean, you aren’t wrong that Trump constantly talks BS, but I would still be fascinated to this defense in action. “Your honor, the plaintiff claims that my client has threatened to kill her on over two dozen occasions. Think about this, doesn’t the mere fact that he threatens her murder all the time without ever actually killing her prove that this is a nothing burger? Hasn’t she learned that yet?”

I didn’t address Biden but that hypothetical would be out of character for him. As for the murder threat, I haven’t seen anything to suggest that trump would look to murder Elon.

I never said suggested so. Just thinking through the implications of your “if you do it enough times, it becomes legal” defense.

I think you're wrong about "nothing comes of it." That may have been true in the past, but his follow-through is definitely getting better. Just ask Harvard, LA, and multiple law firms. "Just how he talks," is no longer an acceptable rationale for his inflammatory rhetoric.
