That's ok, I'm not asking you to. I was mostly pointing out that the two things were different, which I believe they are. No offence was intended.
I think she was good enough to compete for a job. There was potential there. I watched her quite a bit in her travel days. And she did play with Mia in travel, at least one year, so there really isn't any doubt both mothers know each other. My understanding now and at the time this happened three years ago was, after missing three quarters of the year, she was given an opportunity to start...seven times. She did ok. And was told in her exit interview that she would be welcome to compete for the job the next season. She wanted a promise to start...didn't get it....and only then left in a huff. So, what we are getting now is nothing more than an effort to rewrite history.
On a more interesting note, the AUSL season begins today. Four teams playing games in different cities. I think they intend to go to six teams or more next year with teams locked into a home city. Anyway, first game is at 3:00 between the Talons and the Bandits. Skylar plays on the Bandits. I took my first look at the rosters and OMG the Talons seem really loaded. Shipman, Palacios, Faraimo, Fouts, Ellis, Vidales, Romero, Flippen, Aguilar and Hayward to name a bunch. Game is at Rosemont. The second game today is at 7:30 and at Wichita between the Volts and the Blaze. Haven't check their lineups yet. Here is the overall schedule and how to watch every game: https://auslcms.wpenginepowered.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/AUSLRegularSeasonSchedule.pdf
Game is live on MLB.com for free. A little hard to find but it is there. Rosemont is packed to the gills. Great to see. Fouts in the circle for the Talons....Kilfoyl for the Bandits. Skylar is the Bandits shortstop. Hitting second. Morgan Zerkel led of the bottom of one for the Bandits and doubled for the first hit of the game. Skylar moved her to third with a ground out to the circle but Zerkle stranded when Bubba Nickles struck out and Erin Coffel foul popped to the catcher.
I have always thought it was strange that on alumni day there is only a handful of players that come back. Maybe there are more people that feel like the Williams and deckers than we think.
Skylar got hurt. Dove full out for a popup behind the circle but landed very awkwardly on her right shoulder with her arm and hand trapped under her. Took some time to get up and stayed in the game but still seems to be constantly nursing her hand.
Skylar took her second ab and got plunked on her right elbow. Only the third inning of the first game and she is getting beat up. She did steal second and came home on a two run triple by Erin.
Bandits win first game ever in this type of format. Erin interviewed after the game due to her two rbi triple that won it. Asked what she liked about this team..."We're all really chill. Except for Skylar. She's got an edge to her that we need."
5 disagree bacons…love it. lol show me the pics and proof of all the alumni flooding in on alumni weekend to prove me wrong. Add up the alumni that have played for Florida, then tell me why there is only 5-6 players there.
Maybe they have families and a life. A lot of those early recruits were from California. You think Florida SB is paying for all that travel?
Seemed to be. She played the full game. It was only for a few minutes after the incident that she kept messing with her hand. Didn't see any evidence of it later in the game. It really was an awkward fall on her right shoulder with her arm trapped under her. Was more worried about her shoulder.
I have no idea what scholarship and NIL agreement terms are, so perhaps this idea won’t hold water. I think it would be helpful to have a simple “memorandum of understanding” signed by recruits, parents and coach. This document would outline the requirements for the recruit to stay in good standing, a list of things not guaranteed (such as playing time or position) and the rights retained by the coach to determine player status. Any non-standard agreements should be spelled out as well.
NIL cannot be associated with anything related to playing, the school, etc. A scholarship currently is tied to remaining in good standing academically and athletically
Our women in AU today....Skylar has been destroying the ball, just ruining it in her last 4 ab....and has only one double to the left center fence to show for it. Korbe laid down an almost perfect bunt but just a tad too hard at Jessi Warren...the last player at third you want to make a play and she did. Her second ab she lined a grounder in the 5-6 hole but Sis Bates was playing towards left but bobbled it. I guess they called it an error but debatable she could have thrown Korbe out. Korbe has made three great plays already in left. Her patented running and sliding move into the left field corner to keep a ball from getting past her for more than a double. A great catch crashing into the fence. And.....she threw out Amanda at home. Frankly, I thought Amanda was safe but they upheld the out call. Edit: They apparently changed the Korbe play to Bates from an error and giving Korbe a hit.
