(SB) Ongoing UF Softball Commentary

Give me the grace to be more like Olivia’s mom. Wow. A lot all of us could learn a lot from that post, most definitely me. Sooo, if I was in the market for a new mom and my choices were Mia’s mom or Olivia’s mom I know who I’m choosing.

 

As far as I'm concerned, Cali Deckers mom can go find the nearest lake and jump into it. Cali missed almost all of her season because she can't cut an avocado without slicing herself. In her year end exit interview she essentially demanded being guaranteed the starting job at catcher for the next season. Tim told her she would have to compete. She left the interview crying and immediately transferred. She was decent the rest of her career at San Diego State. Nothing much more than that. Low power numbers. And State doesn't play the type of competition on a regular basis she would have had to compete against in the SEC.

 

Kenny Gajewski Oklahoma State head coach was a top assistant to CTW for several years including natty years of 2014 & 2015. With SEC expansion Okie State is kind of a softball outpost. I’d keep an eye on him.

 

Why would a mom rant about their kid on social media? Don't they realize how embarrassing that would be for their kid?

Well, if Tim is quitting, and I don't know he is, Francesca was designated to take over. But it wouldn't shock me if she decided she didn't want to be the one to clean up the mess after only two years of mentoring. Would be a brutal situation for her after giving up her broadcasting career and uprooting her family from Orlando. Guess she could always return to broadcasting.

 

I have always loved Olivia’s positive attitude and personality. I root for her SO hard every time she gets in a game. She just seems like such a good kid. And after reading her mom’s post, I see that she gets it honest.

 

Remember the video of a young Olivia going full out bananas, jumping up and down and rolling around on her bed, when the Gators won a national championship? Clearly it was hereditary.

 

This is just depressing, I’m going to bed. I’ve all day tomorrow to doomscroll the softball forum.

 

Enea just finished year 2 of being an assistant so if walton were to step down (which i don't think he is) I highly doubt stricklin would give her the hc job. She is still relatively new to coaching and after what he pulled with vball i don't trust him. I do think walton just wanted a break from social media and if Decker's mom is also attacking him then smh. She left the program 3 years ago so idk why she making a fuss.

 

The fagans having something to say in the near future wouldn’t surprise me in the least. All of this bulls**t is perfectly on their level.

 

I just read her post. It screams entitlement.

 

I sleep eventually lol. My 12yr old is autistic and semi nocturnal, he doesn't sleep until around 3am most nights so that makes me semi nocturnal too, which works out well during the post season
I went to bed at 3.30am, after the game, but I missed all the discussion about TW social media!

With the House NCAA settlement yesterday, the contract would have had to go for approval -- I think starting Sunday -- for a "fair market value" check.

This woman has some shrewd people advising her to get this signed yesterday. While she's worth a million dollars to the team, there's no way that what she's providing to the Matador Club is worth $1M (TT's NIL).

With direct payments from the university's now authorized, NIL collectives are all out of business except for fair market value hooking up athletes with sponsors.

And is Decker's mom's post related to Mia's departure, given the fact that Cali and Mia both played travel ball for Georgia Impact so they clearly know each other?

 

Maybe this is the real reason Townsen was coaching 1st base most of the year - so Francesca could absorb everything she could from Tim before he leaves.

 

Agreed on the Francesca bit. She was locked on his hip all season. Doubt he was planning on leaving. Even recently. Wouldn't make sense to be promoting camps in Colorado in July. Also, he clearly wants Francesca to follow him but it would shock me if he thinks her putting in two years with him is sufficient to take over. I was thinking more like five years. She didn't even do much home recruiting last year.

 

To Bogart WESGATORS' post. For decades now, we've told kids that everyone gets a ribbon. That regardless of outcome, you're special. And, potentially the most egregious mistake, a lot of parents wanted to be their kids best friend. Abdicating their role as parents. After decades of that, now those entitled kids are todays parents. And, here we are. Be it sports, education, politics, life in general, few facets of society haven't been impacted. I'd suggest negatively.

As an example, and with all due respect. The FB post from Miller's Mom could have been half as long, more concisely written, and still made her point. The adage less is more will rarely let you down.* But again, here we are. Maybe stop constantly wearing your emotions on your sleeve. It's called the Black Mirror for a reason. Put down the phones, and just enjoy life. Odds are you'll be happier and less stressed.

* An adage a handful of GC posters should embrace.

PS: The FSU baseball melt down last night was epic.

 

Pretty much everything in that settlement is going to be challenged and scrapped. Who is the ncaa to determine what fair market value is? The collectives aren’t going anywhere. They tried to negotiate some kind of quasi cba with a single person. That’s not going to work for everyone else.

 

Thats what fishy to me about the whole thing... mia and Cali played together. That is just now coming out about Cali. Mia's parents are obviously upset and have major pull stuff this University im sure. Mia hasn't even taken her gator stuff from socials. To me this screams the Williams didnt get their way and are behind everything. If the rumors are true about the Rothrocks and Williams having issue and Mias left and Kegaens staying.....there's one really unhappy camp.

It didnt bother Decker enough to include two pages of Florida photos on her goodbye to softball post a week or two ago before all this.

I feel sorry for Mia, I dont believe she shared her mum's sentiments.
