Well, you are correct about "woke." Half of it is just plain manners: respect other folks and don't be an a$$clown (in so many words) ... and who in their right mind wouldn't advocate that? However, the pedal hits the metal on some of the most incredibly stupid stuff: UF paid to do a University of Wisconsin-inspired program brought in for Halloween -- that included "comfort areas" and therapists for students "trumatized" by Halloween costumes (and a set-up so students could bring their costumes in to be evaluated for racism, sexism, etc.). Sadly, each side is fully entrenched in its own philosophy and very few folks are willing to stand up on either side and say, "Hey, let's get together for the common good."

 

Anyone who continues to roll with the "good people" talking point is a zombie.

 

Yeah, it isn't like he has had multiple meetings with Kanye West...

 

Concern over calling neo nazis good people from a protest where someone was killed means your a zombie, but taking a month to peacefully diffuse protests means a person is disqualified for office? Got it. You got the zombie part right at least…

 

Hard left must never taken with current politicians. Never saw as hard left nor right. Just explore the opinions.

Jumped through every hoop---including signing a contract that promised he would not allow DEI at UF, writing apologetic op-eds professing loyalty to the Governor's and Legislature's orthodoxy, and burning his bridge back to Michigan---all to try to appease the folks who rant about "woke" and "betas." Bet he regrets that now. Should have known better than to try and appeases people who hate freedom, diversity, education, and science. He was never going to pass that ideological purity test.

But I can commend the culture warriors for throwing talking points like "diversity of ideas" and "merit" into their rants, as they vigorously campaign against these concepts. You at least are unintentionally amusing.

 

Hell, the Father of the Constitution was a bookish nerd lol.

 

Next pool of candidates: Fox News personalities, termed out GOP state legislators, and Casey DeSantis.

 

Any highly qualified college administrator from a top University would have to do some serious considerations before jumping into this maelstrom at this juncture.

I think a good question is how did we get here?
Which party of “idea people” created the CRT and DEI? Democrats and liberals trying to get elected, write a book or get hired into a liberal organization came up with these ideas and now its backfiring.
I don’t like the look of what’s happening either.
But we have to ask ourselves how we got here…
The hard lefties are now getting smashed in the face by the far right or so it seems.

 

At this point I’m sick of either side getting in the way of our success. Just give me a competent administrator who will hold both the academic and athletic side of the house accountable to excellence. I am conservative but Ono sounded like this and would have been a great hire.

 

Woke really just means a severe lack of common sense.

If you're the President of a University and you use pronouns on your Instagram, you lack common sense. If you had those pronouns there for an extended amount of time and then deleted because you were going before the board of governors... You might be a fraud. You may be brilliant in the field of immunology, but you lack the common sense to make critical decisions outside your field. You may not even be able to make critical decisions in your field. He did make college students show proof of the booster as late as May of 2023. We knew much earlier that the shot didn't keep you from getting Covid, and it didn't keep you from spreading it.
