This effects most/all of the “spaghetti models”? Makes sense as it’s not likely these weathermen and forecasters are all collecting overlapping data. Actually I’d assume many of them use a lot of the same public data sets to build their forecasting models.

Yeah, all the models use the data that comes from the weather balloons and Hurricane Hunter flights. So as good as the Euro is for instance, if it’s data deficient in its analysis it’s more likely to be off. The balloons usually are put up in the air ahead of the storm to measure pressure, winds etc. a lot of that is out over water so there aren’t reliable measurements….knowing with certainty what environment the storm is moving into helps know how it will react when it gets there. And everyone knows the amount of data that comes out of the Hurricane Hunter flights.

The FEMA crap from MAGA after Helene was one of the things that really REALLY pissed me off.

MAGA were all over Biden claiming that he wasn't helping NC because it was "red" territory that got tore up. First Ashville and the surrounding area was one of the most impacted areas, and it is as blue as they come.

Second, FEMA was there immediately handing out those $750 checks to help with immediate needs as well has helping to coordinate the search and rescue efforts.

Those $750 checks are actually proof they were there immediately. Which brings us to our next lie - that people were only getting $750. Remember all those crisis actors jumping on social media crying about just getting $750? Well if those people actually got checks, they would have also have received the information on how to file for additional assistance. FEMA has always given those impacted a quick check to help them get somewhere safe, no questions asked, then you file a request for more when you have time to fill out all the proper documentation.

But the worst part was Mike Johnson refusing to bring up a vote for Emergency funds prior to the election, so that FEMA was actually hamstrung and couldn't help people like they would otherwise. MJ claimed FEMA had already been funded as part of the continuing resolution that was finalized just prior to the storm. But as normal, the continuing resolution only supplied money for normal FEMA operation. Emergency funds for almost all disasters are always voted as separate packages. The president, nor FEMA has the power to more funds (unless you are a dictator like Trump and just can do what you want). Congress needs to authorize it. So without those funds, FEMA couldn't fully do their jobs.

Think about how sick that is. MAGA actually held up much needed aid so that it would look worse for Biden.

And MAGA bought the lies hook line and sinker. Even a bit of critical thinking should have allowed them to see they were being lied to or at least they were being misled, but they are conditioned to believe anything bad about Dems on reflex.

Now Mike and crew are saying it is "too late" for western NC to get funds so they are on their own.

After the election, Trump continues to vilify FEMA and now wants to just kill it and let the states deal with the disasters. They are rejecting almost all requests for disaster relief, actually telling states they need to learn to deal with the disasters on their own.

So congrats MAGA in Fl, LA, AL, NC, TX. This next Hurricane season you get to Find Out what your Messing Around brought you.
