Hicks could move into the dp spot tbh that would be smart, but I bet she is transferring to be the starting catcher right away. I do agree with alysb21 that tennessee would be a good place for her and I bet they already gave her a call. Anyone think we should go after one of the two arizona outfielders? That probably pushes Cassidy out tho, I thought she was showing great promise as a freshman before she got injured. I think she just needs more consistent playing time to be a good hitter. Looks like Hicks also plays 1st base so maybe her and erickson can swap positions a few times, unless walton is set on having ava at 1st.

I would hate for us to recruit over Makenna.
She got baptized under fire in her first game in Tampa. But she has matured over the season. Her body language has improved significantly.
She probably does need some work, but she gave up her senior year to back up Jocey.
That means something to me.

 

I think Tim has already shown he doesnt want to have Ava always start at first. He'd rather have his pitcher fresh which i don't disagree with. Love the idea of getting Hicks and having her at first and catching when Jocey needs a break. As far as Makenna... we'll see how she improves over the offseason to fight for time. Walton know best. If he thinks we need to grab another catcher im sure he'll try. I personally dont see us going after an outfielder but you never know

 

I think we need 4 more. 1C, 1P, 1MI or 11B and 1OF. It will force the current players to step up and fight for playing time. Four more will bring the roster to 19.

 

I pretty much agree with that...might go with two in the infield. As for Hicks, if she is worth it and she probably is, we could make it work for her. I don't doubt she isn't thrilled with the idea of sitting behind Jocey for one year but spot duty behind the plate, some work at first, and plenty of DH should be enough to keep her happy.

I really feel like shes Oregon or OU. I was told yesterday by someone with OU connection that they are after 2 arms. Neither of which were yet in the portal.
She is from Arizona though so maybe we have some kind of connection to her with Jocey. I'll be shocked if it's not OU

I fully admit I'm surprised at Mia. I'm going to take some time to think about how I feel about that. Not ready to jump off a cliff. Given what her mother ranted, could be bad blood after all of these years between the Rothrock and Williams clans. Just guessing. And wherever she goes.....do you really want her mother to follow?

 

Well, at least when I said possibly two infielders from the portal...perhaps we can find one that doesn't make 23 errors at second the last two seasons.

 

Who knows....was this because Mia wanted to leave or if her mother's public post was the last straw and Tim said, "better if you find a new place to play". The bottom line is Tim stuck with Mia through a horrendous year and didn't give up on her. And this is the thanks? As I said, just not sure I'm upset with this event.

 

I hate it for Mia if she truly wanted to remain a Gator which I sadly think was the case. I truly think her mother wanted her gone. Also apparently Tech has been after her for weeks.

 

If you don't count pitchers and you put Ava at first, we only have four starters returning. Currently not a pretty picture.
