gift to the dems when confronted about how trump decisions were going to result in people dying, Sen Joni Ernst told her Iowa constituents We are all going to die Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst at contentious town hall: 'We all are going to die' | AP News DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Republican Sen. Joni Ernst was met with shouts and groans when she said “we all are going to die” as she addressed potential changes to Medicaid eligibility at a town hall in north-central Iowa on Friday. She had been consistent in her message throughout the contentious forum at a high school in Parkersburg, Iowa, as she defended the tax and immigration package that has passed the House and is now under consideration in the Senate. Facing several constituents concerned about cuts to Medicaid, she defended the $700 billion in reduced spending, saying it would keep immigrants in the U.S. illegally and those who have access to insurance through their employers off the rolls. Then someone in the crowd yelled that people will die without coverage. “People are not ... well, we all are going to die,” Ernst said, drawing groans. “So, for heaven’s sakes. For heaven’s sakes, folks.”
I always wondered how the hippies of the 60s and 70s turned into the cranky old pubs who only care about themselves. But this all makes sense, they all spent to many hours listening to The Doors.
Those are her talking points for uneducated single issue abortion voters (rubes). In reality the Republican Party is a death cult. The oh well “We’re all gonna die” was her saying the quiet part out loud.
Funny how certain phrases trigger thoughts in our brains. We're all going to die triggered, one two three what are we fighting for, in mine.
The problem was her comment was asked in response to a question about people losing health coverage. Yes, if people lose health coverage it causes deaths. To just dismiss that as “oh well, we’re all gonna die” is incredibly callous. Especially coming from someone like Ernst who having gone from military to entering politics has likely only known and benefited from govt paid healthcare in her entire adult life. It’s dumb enough when out of touch billionaires say stuff like this, but this is a lifetime govt employee/politician whose healthcare has only been paid by taxpayers.
Republican Sen. Joni Ernst defends proposed Medicaid cuts: 'We all are going to die' Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, was repeatedly pressed on cuts to Medicaid in the House's budget bill at a town hall in her home state on Friday, and pushed back on an attendee who said the cuts would lead to deaths. "People are not — well, we all are going to die, so, for heaven’s sakes," she said, prompting resounding jeers. The exchange began with an attendee complaining to Ernst that the bill would give significant tax breaks to the ultrawealthy while kicking some people off Medicaid and food assistance programs. Ernst said the only people who face getting booted are those who should not be on Medicaid in the first place. ------------------------------------------------- When politicians say dumb things, I call them out.
Arrongant azz doubled down and further mocked her own constituents, while walking through a cemetary no less. What a loathesome cretin.
$Trump's biggest legacy will be the cruelty and callousness that has infected today's Republican party. Shameful. Perverse. Inhumane.
Campaign ad ammo. I think the GOP will be surprised at the lack of support tearing down the government garners We will see.
Wow, she has no clue how tone deaf she really is. No wonder our country is so screwed when we elect people like her and Kennedy and the ogre getvyour kid saved by christ since we cut off their chemo. Eternal life is much better anyway
I don’t think many of the cranky old pubs of today were the hippies. More likely, they were the Neidermeyers and Chip Dillers of the time.
