Slow down a little and let the freaking team take the field before shitting all over their chances to CONTINUE to improve. Jeezus
If there is no contract with the NIL entity during this pre-payment period, where is the sharp stick to get these guys to pay that back after decommiting? I think I would find the highest monthly payment, commit, collect my paychecks and then decommit closer to signing day and start the bidding process all over again. Free money, right?
I’m not sure what you are upset with. If, it is to cough up a $30m payroll, I think you are in the small minority. If BN has done anything, it’s that he can evaluate talent and recruit. Building a roster organically, without overspending is the right approach IMO. At least until the current state of the game stabilizes. Yes, we can’t be cheap… but we can’t be stupid either.
rivalries being shoved aside for money is what’s ticking me off the most and i honestly hate the 12 team playoff being 12 teams
12 teams doesnt bother me. The 8 seed won out and if i chose to only watch the final four i can. 16 is what i prefer as bye weeks are crap.
As I previously stated, last year we were on several top 100 recruit’s lists. According to 247, this year, we are not. I do not believe bringing this up as an issue is being “dense”. There are legitimate concerns with this class. You may ignore them if you want. As I previously stated, I appreciate that Billy has increased the talent level over the last few years but you’re not going to convince me this is not an issue. It seems like some here can’t abide any comments not completely complimentary towards the coaching staff or the program in general.
Not sure what the payroll needs to be right now, but if we want to be competitive with the top programs, we’re going to need to be damn close. What exactly do you mean by building a roster organically? Finding kids that just want to be gators or are ‘underrated’ is a pipe dream. With today’s recruiting analysis, the ratings are usually pretty accurate. I think the bigger problem right now is the perception of Napier’s future.
BTW, we were on all three of our top recruits’ lists very early and were always in their top 3. VBIII, Wilson and Hanks all had us in their favorites early on. If you’re going to take personal shots, at least make sense.
That's a good story. Except that we flipped high quality, highly ranked players from Oregon, Tennessee, Auburn, Miami, FSU, PSU, Texas, and Georgia off the top of my head under Napier. But go on with your story telling if it makes you feel good.
I can glance at the 247 top 250 and see 25 plus kids with uf, around 15 in the top 150, etc. The board is fne at this point, especially given this shouldn't be a large class. Big visit weekends with plenty of elite names. Feel free to be concerned, but actually seems you are the one that can't abide other posters pointing out flaws in your thinking
1994 represents (IMO) a significant portion of Gator Nation who's posts express an underlying negativity and skepticism toward CBN and the program in general. This is not without justification, 19-19 is not much to write home about for a program of Florida's stature and resources. In fact going back to Urban's era, UF has "flirted" with prominence here and there by getting to a few SEC championship games, but usually being destroyed by BAMA in the process, demonstrating the program is not on par with the elites. Of course outside of Clemson not many teams were able to compete with BAMA in those years. I identify with those whom have the perspective of the glass half full. In addition to liking the culture Napier has brought to Florida we finally saw some sunlight in the last half of the season in 24, then a rather remarkable recruiting rebound. All that is fine and well but nothing replaces winning. I'm firmly in Skink's camp, and believe during the summer and fall camp period it is rather pointless to take shots, such as cherry picking the recruiting rankings in late May. We are where we are, I tend to enjoy the bit of "program" momentum and hopes for a better 25, that sources like On3, Josh Pate, and other's are spinning. (Less Finebaum of course). There is hope for what could be a good season. Reference David Wunderlick's recent article about "The time is now". DJ, the receiving core potential, the running back room, the offensive line, the linebackers and a strong first unit on the defensive front all suggest this is, indeed, Napier's most talented group, with the potential to make waves at the SEC and National level. I also hold higher optimism for the secondary than most, believing this unit has the potential to be quite good as well. There also seems to have been some good coaching staff additions. I will acknowledge to 1994 and the other critics, that NO, we are not at the level of OSU, UGA, Oregon, and others, in recruiting and team depth. UF's first unit starters need to stay healthy, but I do think they can compete with anybody. So, once the season starts, there will be plenty of opportunity to praise or nay-say. Scott Strickland made a call with Napier and it appeared to pay off in the 2nd half of 24. Lets hope that continues.
