Yeah, this is a tough one. Although Desantis clearly sucks, they are booing him because he doesn't necessarily suck enough, or in their particular way. It's fascinating. Hopefully he doesn't, but he needs to do what Trump has done: make people simultaneously feel alpha and powerful ...... and totally aggrieved by how unfair everything is to them. Like another poster said, it will be a low bar for the next MAGA politicians to stoop down to and crawl under. Maybe the immigrants will be using drugs, and then raping the dogs before eating them?
That’s what I was going to ask. OP assumed a non-zombie level of rationality. That the boo birds are because of the $10 million corruption theft or the property vs sales taxes craziness. More than likely it’s much dumber and cultier, i.e. because he considered running against Trump at one point or didn’t appoint the Trumper to fill the Senate seat.

He wanted to and has repeatedly advocated for it, but the state legislature (primarily Perez, the state speaker, but Ben Albritton in the senate is following right along) has made it his mission to not give Desantis anything. He and his cronies in the legislature are too busy worrying about how to further enrich developers in the state and keep the Florida Sherriff’s Association happy than to do meaningful things for their constituents.

I'm an old school wrestling fan, so my opinion may be out of date. I just can't see wrestling fans today showing up to debate tax policy. Maybe they just want him to get into the ring? Scratch that. Governor Ventura got booed plenty, granted he was a heel. Those were love boos though. Noone ever questioned his elite intellect. heh heh
Number two in education? LOL! This is higher education, not K thru 12. You know, college education, the type of education that MAGA despises and abuses. And the high academic quality is due to the research that is done and to the international students that they attract. You know, the people Trump, Desantis, and MAGA ilk want to deport.
