The Florida Gators won their final four games of the 2025 season to finish with an 8-5 record, the best in three years under head coach Billy Napier. Florida will look to ride that momentum into the 2025 season, where the expectations are a playoff berth amongst most of Gator Nation.

According to Fox Sports, Florida has the 15th best odds to win the National Championship in 2025 at +4500. The Gators hold way too early preseason rankings of No.9 (Josh Pate), No.10 (CBS Sports), No.11 (USA Today), and No.19 (ESPN). Pretty much wherever you look, the Gators are considered right on the bubble of a playoff bid.

Gator Country provides three reasons Florida will make the playoffs, and three reasons they won’t.

Agree with the assessment. Lagway hopefully takes the sophomore leap with help from his superb stall of playmakers; we look great in the WR, OL and RB rooms. Everything hinges on staying relatively injury free and the defensive continuing where they left off!

----- Reasons why we make the playoffs -----

    1. Skilled QB with almost one full year starting.
    2. We have some of the best skilled offensive weapons in the nation.
    3. Our O-line will give our QB/offense the time we need to get the wins.

----- Reason why we miss the playoffs -----

    1. We start out slow like last year and lose too many games early on.
    2. We suffer too many costly injuries/injury bug.
    3. Too many mental errors by the players or the coaching staff... special teams.

Hoping the first two games help UF "Kick the Rust Off" and get ready for that brutal 4 game stretch.
The Gators are going to have to ball like never before under Nape, if they want to sniff the playoffs, in that 4 game sequence.

As much as I like coach, it's year 4, giving away games ala Arkansas 2 years ago and Tenn last year just won't stand.

The team, while still young, does have more experience. They need to be crisp, precise and execute. If the Gators emerge from the first 6 games
5-1, they will be in the playoff conversation.

    Make it Happen!

Napier can survive losing to Tennessee, but not giving away the game like that. I'm not sure how many games we need to win, but we just cannot continue to shoot our self on the foot.

    Thats
8 is a good number but how the team looks matters more to me. We won eight last year but the first half of the season was inexcusable. 9 or 10 would be nice but gauging how our competition is a crap shoot . Lets hope we are better and they are worse.

Thats just dumb. He could go 9-3 and not make the playoffs. Thats better than most think this team will finish.

I have not looked yet; how does this season’s schedule look compared to last years? If we had started like we finished last year, it would have been a terrific season given the difficulty of the schedule. I know quite a few SEC teams have daunting schedules like us but several do not; it would be fair to even that out a bit - which means it won’t happen.
The basketball success has delayed my info gathering of this years football team but it’s only May!

Same schedule and you never know how good teams will really be. Is DJ a heisman candidate or just a top twenty qb. Is this defense able to replace the ones that are no longer here and be better.

But still not acceptable. Mediocrity has no place at the university of Florida.

Same as LY. But the road games make this year more difficult. LSU, Miami, A&M, Ole Miss, KY away games.

Well, now that's a real bolt out of the blue! Almost a eureka moment when you think about it. What would we do around here without such probity. :p

I like this season's schedule more than last year's for a couple of reasons. My personal bottom-line hope is that the team is now mature enough and that BN has finally solved the staffing issues and grown enough as a game manager to take advantage of the pair of tune-up games at the start of the season. Another bumbling, chaotic start after the promise of last year's finish would be a disaster. Obviously, for a young but talented team that needs to get its legs under it quickly, the cupcakes are coming at a good time. And while neither LSU nor Miami are guaranteed world-beaters, they are both formidable. UF won't go into the Texas game without having been tested.

I took a look at the short horn's first four games, and after very possibly losing their opener against OSU, they play no one with a pulse 'til they get to Hogtown. They, and the rest of the CFB world will have no real idea what their reaction will be should they get punched in the mouth right out of the gate in the Swamp - especially if they come in with a loss already on the books. It wouldn't be the first time a guy named Manning had a tough day in the Swamp. FTR, whether UT beats OSU or not, they will open their SEC slate at my favorite snake pit, against a team with a score to settle. GG.

Too many recruiting misses is still going to probably be the difference between making and missing the playoffs. Billy has raised the recruiting level since Mullen but it is still not elite level. We continue failing to land 5 star offensive and defensive linemen like Georgia, Ohio state, Alabama, etc. We have pulled a few really good ones from the portal but that usually only gets you one or two years with them at max. We really need to move from top 10 to top 5 a few years in recruiting. The transfer portal is not the silver bullet it is in basketball. I am happy to see the improvement. I just hope we can take the next step.
