I wonder if Vanderbilt gets stuck with Tennessee, Alabama, and Texas. Although with the current coach and NIL skewing possibilities, I wonder if they’re as reliable an easy out going forward as they historically have been.

Thats up to them, they have tge money to compete but have chosen not to in tge past. The price of putting talent on the roster has gone up tremendously so my answer is, i really doubt it.

You would still get a bottom feeder every year so long as the rest of the schedule is balanced correctly, an example for UF would be

two years of UGA, Tenn, AUB, Tex, LSU, Ole Miss, USCe, Vandy, Mizzou

Then two years of UGA, Tenn, AUB, Bama, TAMU, Arky, MSST, OU, UK

So long as they correctly balance the rest of the schedule the three you play every year does not matter as much.

All 15 other teams played home and away every 4 years. I am really excited for this possibility. I also dont really care which teams are the three with the exception of UGA, have to maintain that.

Three strong every year opponents is still a disadvantage.

Prefer Kentucky to Tennessee, after all KY has more wins over us in the past 20 years then the vaunted Vols ;)

Yeah and we don’t want KY every year. We’re like their freaking Super Bowl.

Recall back in 1991 when all we had to do was beat Kentucky at home the last SEC game of the season to FINALLY win our first undisputed legit SEC Championship — and they took us to the wire. I was there. Freakin Kentucky. No thanks to making them an every year game.

The Bullshit to Benefit ratio with Kentucky is over 1.0 — pass

I like the idea of SC being permanent. Bama isn’t a rival and would be a tough out. SC is regional and should be a good turnout.

Thanks everyone, for the votes and the thoughtful replies - I learned a lot and gained some valuable insight!

According to the Survey, most people want Georgia, Tennessee, and Auburn (all receiving over 50% of the votes).

LSU would go from being an annual opponent to a semi-annual opponent in the 3-6-6 format. To answer some questions from earlier, 3-6-6 means three permanent opponents (such as UGA, UTn, and Aub), plus 6 rotating opponents. Every other year, you'd play the same 6 opponents. That leaves six opponents you won't play until every other year.

For example, in odd years you could play UTx, Ark, SCAR, Mizzou, MSST, and LSU...
and then in even years, you would play TAMU, Okla, Vandy, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Kentucky.

That's what is meant by 3-6-6. It's not a pod system, per se, because (based on historical rivals) if Florida plays Georgia every year, and Georgia plays Auburn every year, and Auburn plays Alabama every year -- that's fine, but Florida wouldn't be playing Alabama every year under 3-6-6, but they would if they were all in the same pod.

A 1-8-8 system was also proposed for a 9-game SEC schedule, which would mean the SEC would lose a lot of annual rivalries. For example, Auburn would lose either the annually played "Deep South's Oldest Rivalry" against Georgia, or forfeit the annual Iron Bowl against Alabama. With 3-6-6, I think the SEC can keep nearly all of the important rivalries as annual matchups, however.

Again, thanks for spending some time here in this thread during the off-season!

Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. I want to see doofy Beamer all puckered up and and snarling each and every year we cook their sorry butts. He just annoys me.

Georgia and Tennessee have to be two. The third can be UK or USCe.
