    One would have to know when he is going to do what. Predictability, other than his transactional narcissistic traits, isn't his strength.

    We are seeing 25% cost increases on components and products that are heavily steel and aluminum.

    Even with the tariffs on China greatly reduced, American consumers will still pay much higher prices for imports from China than they used to under Biden. Chinese production costs are going up, and importer costs are going up, and that means that the American consumer will pay more. Chinese companies are now offering overtime pay to employees, and demanding larger order sizes, which means that American importers have to pay more to store the additional products before they will sell. Another economic disaster for Trump.

    Major anniversary! The greatest tariff increase by Congress in U.S. history occurred in 1828 on this date. It happened accidentally, as the original proposers of the bill were trying to make the bill so offensive and outrageous that it would never pass (so politicians in New England could be blamed for it). It got unexpected support in the New York/New Jersey/Pennsylvania region as well as the Midwest. It was called the Tariff of Abominations, and it resulted in a severe economic hardship on some place called "the South", which threatened Civil War until the tariff was repealed in 1833. The tariff rate was 38% on products, with a 45% rate on imported raw materials. Some thought a tariff was necessary because of the blockade of Europe after the War of 1812 and the Napoleonic Wars caused England to dump products cheaply on U.S. shores.

    Trump back to his tariff trade wars… hard hits to EU with 50% tariff and going after Tim “Apple” to make iPhones in the U.S.

    Not content to leave it at threatening the EU, he also announced a 25% tariff on iPhones. He says Apple will have to pay the tariff unless iPhones are manufactured in the US. Pure lunacy on all fronts.

    Definitely. Jared got the heads up.

    This will be a dip-buying opportunity as always, though. Trump will capitulate because;
    a) He's soft as play-dough
    b) He's just trying to distract from things like budget cuts
    c) He's trying to force someone to bribe him

    In any event though, as always, he'll back down like a chump, will create a fake victory (like an unenforceable manufacturing "deal"), and MAGA will spend extra time worshipping at their Trump shrine because he's so strong and powerful.
