I would say the Republican party and MAGA have failed America. Yet Dems, Independents and Libertarians are always expected to have saved us from the likes of $Trump; a failed and failing POTUS. Americans have become too accustomed to attention-grabbing celebrities, and, let's face it -- the current POTUS is cuckoo for cocoa puffs.
Nope. One party already has jumped the shark and had their planning session for an Article V convention. There is a lot of bad that is coming in the next 10 years. The only thing that can save America is business employers force their employees to move to different states to homogenize politics. I give it a few years before PACs flat out pay people to move.
I just do not think there is a lot of willingness for a lot if news outlets to do a lot of soul searching to determine how they so obviously missed this. The fact that Trump is back in the White House gives them even less reason to do so. My only hope is that one of the parties is able to nominate a centrist in ‘28 that allows the country to reflect on how bad things became from ‘16 to ‘28.
and as Biden’s VP and part of the admin made it difficult for her to state what wasn’t working. It’s been claimed a few times Biden supposedly told her “ no daylight between them” (he denied this on ‘The View’.) But more than Biden, SHE WAS NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE. Her poll ratings as VP were historically bad. She did awful in the 2020 dem primary and dropped out. Supposedly after Biden dropped Nancy & Obama wanted a mini primary, but for Biden’s last awful move he quickly & publicly announced her as his replacement.
Reagan did not endorse Bush for the ticket in 2008 and Trump had not endorsed Vance for the ticket in 2028. Biden could have chosen to announce in 2022 that he was not running and not endorsing anyone. It wasn't that hard, but some people didn't want to leave the White House.
Heard this question asked last evening ….. given the fact that the prostate is located in close proximity to where progressives typically keep their heads, could 46’s mental incapacity and cancer be related?
And he played along with it for years, or maybe he is that dumb? One thing is for sure: that man rarely smiles.
Not quite done but it is very clear that Kamala Harris and Jake Sullivan have a lot of questions to answer about what they knew about Biden's health and when. The Cabinet Secretaries probably get a little more leeway since they were not seeing Biden everyday but I'm not sure any of them have a bright future in national elected politics after this.
I do not think Biden could have step back and announced he was not endorsing anyone. First, it would be saying he made a mistake in picking Harris as VP. Second, it would really, really upset the CBC and members of the Democratic African American community, who carried Biden to victory in the '20 Democratic primary. On edit: Congressman Jim Clyburn was approached by some Democratic operatives that said they had polling that showed not only did Biden need to drop out but so did VP Harris. Clyburn asked them if they could do another poll for him and asked them to determine how African American women would respond if Harris was pushed off the ticket. These operatives said they would do the poll, it would take three days, and then they would get back to him. Clyburn stated they never got back to him.
I like this take more than expecting family members to be the ones responsible for making that assessment and taking action. Of course, it would be great if his family had done something (and I absolutely hold them at fault for not doing so) - but our republic should have better safeguards in place than relying on those who have personal connections to POTUS. On a side note, it's discussions like this (you, pitboss, exiledgator, among possibly others) that keep me popping in to Too Hot on occasion. Unfortunately, wading through much of the garbage in between that genuine discussion reminds me why I limit my visits.) Anways, thanks.
The owner of Gator Country, and OklahomaGator, and myself, are working to improve the tone and have more actual discussions. Thanks for the post and thanks to those mentioned and others who have discussed things in this thread and others!
The other thing that is extremely clear in the book is that Biden's top aides were not showing him polling that showed he was losing to Trump before or after the debate. Biden's top aides/campaign had a pollster that said Biden was a little behind but it was still a toss up race. After the debate, Biden kept referring to these polls when talking with Democratic Congress members as to why he was not going to drop out. The issue was the the Democratic Congress members were all seeing very different polling that showed Biden pulling their numbers down. This led to Pelosi eventually confronting Biden and his aides over it. So that answered the question about what polls Biden kept referring to that I had after the debate but before he dropped out. His staff were straight up lying to him about them and neither Biden or his family questioned them. I believe the Pod Save Bros stated they saw polling that would have had Trump at over 400 EV if Biden had stayed in.
