I don't even see the Daily Mail link in this thread. Aren't they a UK pub?

I do see the Daily Caller and the Daily Beast.

I can't read the WSJ, my sub lapsed with them when they stopped delivering the print edition years ago. It's paywalled.

At least a partial lie from Noem. She can claim that the Daily Mail was wrong about her knowledge but she's wrong in claiming the department had no knowledge. Quotes from Noem from this article:

If it was possible to bet, I'd bet that Noem did have knowledge but is distancing herself after the backlash. We'll probably find out the truth through a FOIA in several months but everyone will have moved on by then.
