Not to focus on myself, but I am conveying personal experience. In Mechanical Engineering, I made Dean's List 7 out of 12 quarters. I did have a sophomore slump. She may be experiencing the same; but I hope not. I had a conversation with her at First Pitch last year; she is an extremely intelligent woman. I commended her for fulfilling two of her dreams, first to become a career engineer and secondly to play the sport she loves while preparing for it at the University and with the teammates that she loves. I'm with Ariel, no matter the path she chooses.
Former Florida infielder Ariel Kowalewski is transferring to Texas A&M, her new school announced on Tuesday evening. D1 Softball by Justin McLeod Kowalewski entered the transfer portal on December 3rd, within the established winter transfer window. As a midyear, undergraduate transfer, she is not eligible to play for the Aggies during the season and will have to sit out the year. During her freshman season in 2024, Kowalewski started 56 games at third base for the Gators. She hit .308 on the[…]
Is that one of those things we could have waived to make her immediately eligible? I really don't understand the "sitting out" rules, but I seem to recall that Coach Murphy screwed Skylar Wallace when she came to UF by not waiving her sitting out a year.
It would appear she entered the portal after the normal period which is why she has to sit. Almost all players if academically eligible get atleast 1 free transfer without a year penalty IF they follow the guidelines for transfer. I think the SEC changed its own intraconferernce rules in 2021 allowing immediate eligibility. Back when Skylar transferred i believe we were under SEC rules that gave the coach authority to release or not. This whole situation with her has been anything but a normal transfer process which leads me to think it was a very difficult decision for her to make.
Thanks for posting the link. With only a few exceptions that I saw from Penn State & North Carolina, most of these players are seemingly trying to upgrade to one of the major conferences. The list will explode soon with only 16 teams still playing.
Well the portal is officially open. Biggest names so far. Mizzou Taylor Pannell who was a closer and turned starter this year. Lefty pitcher who has a nasty changeup. Madison Walker from Mizzou who led the team in Hrs this season. Okie state 3B Tallen Edwards. All will be heavily sought out for.
Concerned with all the rumblings. NIL is crazy. I wouldnt mind if we picked up Panell though. She was nails in post season for Mizzou last year. That teams was just not it this year. She's good though.
After the off season volleyball had, I can't deal with people leaving the softball team. I have no knowledge of anything, but I don't see any of the major contributors leaving tbh. We are still one of the most successful SEC teams in the postseason and will be a top team next year. I follow two outside forums and I haven't seen talk of any of the florida players leaving.
I had heard from someone that Tech was allegedly going to donors to get money for players at UF and OU, but I really hope that none of our players go for it. Again, these are just rumors and I don't really know how much validity are behind the claims.
