I had intended to make this point in my initial post, so, thank you for doing so! I have not understood keeping other teams in the game by conservative playcalling. I wish the Gators and BN an outstanding season in 2025. The Gators just have to develop a take-no-captives approach to every game! Hang half-a-hundred on all those buzzards!!!

I am slso but unless he is a future top 10 pick, its unlikely he will carry the offense. He will have to be really good to make a 7 win team into a ten win team.

It doesnt keep the other team in the game when Freddy runs for a hundred in the second half, it buries them. Timmy could get the yardage when the whole stadium knew it was coming. Rushing yardage is usually the difference in the game. I wanna throe for 300 too but the inability to run really hamstrings an offense. 3 rd and one being an automatic first down is crucial to be really good, ol piss couldnt do it. If they could, they probably beat us handily. They threw all over the field but couldnt get it done.

Saban told his team to not let Timmy get past them. Keep him in front of you and gang tackle him. It was our undoing in 2009

Poor game plan. Obviously the Divemaster assumed we wouldn't have to pass much to beat Bama since we had squeaked out wins all year running Timmy and our two diminutive RB's up the middle. I heard all the excuses about inexperienced WR's, blah, blah, blah. And then Timmy passed for almost half a thousand in the Bowl game, so obviously that wasn't true.

Without the threat of Harvin, that was possible

Meyer calling the plays instead of Mullen didn’t help either

You are so right. AFter all, Percy ran all over Bama in the 08 SECCG.
That was a great Bama team, but Percy just destroyed them.

The stats might have shown that
    • Tebow threw 3 TDs and was our leading rusher...
    • Murphy caught 4 balls for a 21.5 yard average andCooper caught 2 for 56 yards and a TD.
    • Haden had a big pick and Cunningham a big sack.
    • Nelson had a key TD...
But Percy was the difference. Without the threat of Percy we never would have won I'm sure...
Funny how he's not mentioned in the box score. An oversight I'm sure.

I do realize we had a stacked team, great OL, solid WRs, well coached all around. But also, a handful of great players make a team sensational, Tebow and Harvin. Those were good days.

Of course...And Percy was a great player....
But this canard about how he was the difference in that team, and how he was the reason we beat Bama in the 08 SECCG just makes me smh.

To be clear... PERCY DID NOT PLAY IN THE GAME. HE WAS HURT.
Therefore, the threat of Percy did not make 1 bit of difference in that game.

Yet its repeated over and over and over.
It's funny how people will just believe something and the actual facts are irrelevant.

Maybe they are thinking of the Arky 2006 SEC Champ game where Percy was the MVP.

TBF, we had players at every position, well coached with strong beliefs in their abilities.

However, do not underestimate the impact of Percy spanking Urban on the sideline. It helped more than we will ever know.

    Well, no.
This person said the reason we lost to Bama in 09 SECCG was because we didn't have the Percy threat.
Which IMO is illogical because we beat BAMA in the 08 SECCG even though... wait for it...Percy was hurt and he didn't play.

And while I understand no one wants to hear this- the biggest loss from the 08 team was Dan Mullen.
And Meyer's sanity, but that's another story...

Are we looking for correctable for 2025 or the 09 team? Think were a little late for correcting that club...

We had been running it for a bit a surely saban realized by 09 that if you let timmy get five yards off tackle, it was going to be a long day. Sell out and stop it is a great plan if Percy doesnt eat your lunch. But i agree, playcalling wasnt impressive either.
