Maybe it should be obvious, but if Wal-Mart is an efficient low cost operator and will still have pass through tariffs. Then so too will other retailers. Doesn’t matter if you don’t go to Wal-Mart. It’s not like Wal-mart will pass through and Target/Best Buy/Macy’s will magically be able to avoid them. All of them will, most other retailers will have LESS flexibility than wal-Mart. That “I don’t shop at wal-mart anyway” is just a really stupid take.

^ Trump will make all of the US retailers eat the costs.

Because China pays for the tariffs.

He's building the wall (tariffs) and making Mexico (retailers) pay for it!

    They fell for it again

LOL at the whining. Such ignorance coming from the left. All businesses are going to adjust. All. And things will be fine. Whether you shop at Wal Mart. Target. Amazon. Publix. Etc etc etc…

    But cry away.

Walmart sets the prices for companies everywhere. If you shop at a grocery store or cvs or Lowe’s or Home Depot or Target or Dollar Stores or AMAZON… you’ll be affected by them specifically.

And if not, the other places have a higher expense structure than Walmart and are even more likely to raise prices than Walmart.

But maybe you make all your own stuff on your right wing farms.

Of course they will adjust. They ‘ve already stated they will adjust with higher prices and changes in how they invest in a lower ROI environment.

Apparently your big guv guy will he “watching” them as they do.

Oh the irony of Trumpty Dumpty telling Walmart that they better not try to make money while grifting and lining his companies pockets with dirty money from corrupt countries in the Middle East! But it’s all cool, right MAGA? I mean all great Presidents did this, like…, um, …

    Lol, insightful post.

But no - you're the one whining and crying. With ignorance.

(Almost as badly as that makeup wearing"trade is unfair" reality show guy who's trying to tank the economy. )

Of course they're going to adjust ... by passing the additional costs imposed by Trump's tariffs to their customers through higher prices. If there is any ignorance it's coming from supporters of the president who think think that the countries exporting products to the US or those companies importing them will be paying all or most of the tariffs rather than American consumers.

Sounds like the left is starting to understand taxes and how businesses work.

Tariffs are regressive. They impact the least the most. I support progressive taxes.

When do you think the right will ever start to understand how taxes and businesses work?

Well there is a reason Trump loves "the poorly educated." The very people most negatively impacted are the ones who vote for him simply because they don't understand it.

    Some common MAGA beliefs:
    1) Chemtrails
    2) Tariffs paid for by country exporting goods
    3) Fluoride is bad for you, but coal pollution is good for you

That’s what all of us against Trump’s idiotic policies have been saying. Thanks for the unneeded validation.

Perhaps you need to school the President who doesn’t appear to understand how his own economic policies work? Or your fellow Trump voters that think China will pay the tariffs and Mexico the wall?

    • First Trump enacted anti-capitalist tariffs to restrict trade
    • Then he claimed China and export nations paid the tariff
    • Then Trump assured us that we weren't going to feel any negative effects on the economy as a result of his tariffs.
    • Then he started telling us yes, we'll probably hurt a bit but we should just buy fewer dolls this Christmas.
    • Then he threatened Amazon to hide the cost of his Tariffs from us.
    • Then he put price controls on drugs.
    • Then he threatened Walmart to fund the cost of Trump's tariffs themselves.

Question... how is Trump not considered a socialist/communist from the right?

Corporate taxes are not regressive if that's what you are suggesting

Absolutely. For those who apparently do not understand the definition of regressive it means that the burden of the tariffs like other regressive taxes will fall disproportionately on lower income taxpayers, those individuals and families who can least afford to them and do not have the ability to avoid them.
