My guess would be Bullen, Clayton is the other catcher but he’s a freshman and this is supposed to be his redshirt year. Bullen used his redshirt prior to coming to UF. Clayton is probably the better player but I’m not sure you burn his year knowing that short of Luke’s stock dropping so much with the injury he comes back that catcher is probably our biggest position player need. Way to early to look to next year but we aren’t losing very many guys from this team.
Don't sleep on Brody's arm behind the plate. In a moment much-forgotten by the Highlightz Godz, in the top 13th inning versus Clemson in the SR last year, Mathes hit a solo shot to give the Tigers the 1-run lead. HOWEVER... ...Mathes only hit a solo shot because, prior to the HR, the pinch runner at first - there because we plunked the first batter - got a little sloppy off the bag at first and Brody threw a frozen rope and gunned him down. If that solo HR is a 2-run homer then our walkoff double in the B13 only ties the game and we are still fighting for a win. Brody is no slouch and he can throw it.
Nadeau's nail was ripped off. They Surgically glued it back on, which I'm sure stung like a mother. He should be able to go tonight with treatment.
Had a quick 2 second convo with Chuck earlier today, we joked that if anyone wanted to come burn some sage at the field it couldn’t hurt in cleansing this injury bug.
Hoping Nadeau is back but it sounds like an injury that would cause great discomfort so you would need to use local for pain control. I'm told from someone who saw it that the injury is on the throwing hand - middle or index finger - so I doubt he is available today. I would align the infield with Lawson back at first and Stripling at 3rd. Cyr and Boser up the middle. Outfield: Wilson, Yost, Evans (L-R). Brookins DH. Not many options with only 2 position players available on the bench- I like 87’s suggestion of using McDonald either at first if needed or PH. Pitchers are usually the best athletes in HS and usually can swing the bat. At this critical stage with a diminished bench– give it a shot! Go Gators!
Regardless, I hope someone tells the DJ to play "Living on a Prayer" during the game tonight. Whoa we're half way there. Whoa living on a prayer.... and so on.
Does anyone know if Evans is even an option back in the OF? Is the concussion having lingering effects or some other injury?
He throws up near 100, iirc. He’s got a rocket. I would have liked to seen him on the mound last week against usf, lol. 100 from a non pitcher would have surely kept the hitters from settling in.
Not a big fan of how he puts his glove upside down for a target - but there is no question on his arm talent. He can flat out push it!
