The highest I've seen Condon in a mock draft is #31 with the first pick in the 2nd. Sounds like if he gets a first round guarantee, then he takes it but I'm not sure that will happen.
He will be a lottery pick next year if he comes back. Hope he bets on himself to achieve something greater, professionally, and perhaps legendary here in Gainesville.
As I say (but I can't say for sure), what is missing in all this is the expected influx of weird athletically gifted Euro players who get selected instead of the college kids who are auditioning right now. I still say that if you are not one of the first 15 selections, you go back to school if you can. Otherwise, your 16th pick projection can become your 31st pick in reality. C'mon Alex, time to party with your brethren...
They play a game that does not translate as well as college players. Like Jokic. He is massive but for some reason he is not the difference for a championship. For me, the best rendition of The Man, European style, is Nowitzki. And it took a couple of shots to the chops for him to realize he needed to change up his game. Otherwise they are gifted but not elite. The Greens of the league turn them into jello. JMHO
Predicting Rounds 1 and 2 of the NBA draft after the combine ESPN updated draft projection has Condo at 38. If this is similar to the feedback he’s been getting, looks like a decent chance of him returning. They had previously had him at high 20s, then 31, and now 38.
Why is he waiting? I mean, what is more important, his future financial wealth or our entertainment? I will just leave this for you, big guy: Okay, maybe that is a bit too harsh and in-your-face. How about this?
Good stuff there. I'm glad the writer included the things that don't show up in a player's individual stats, like altering shots. Condo altered a lot of perimeter shots, causing good shooters to miss. Back in the days of our Back-to-Back titles, a common whine after almost every team we whipped was that, "If we only shot our 3s like we usually do, we'd a won that game." That may be true. But you didn't shoot 3s like you usually do because your wide-open looks suddenly had the long arms of Brewer, Noah, and to a lesser degree, Horford, appearing out of nowhere. Those guys closed out FAST. Condon does that too.
Re: Alex Condon is the Fixer. This is a really detailed analysis of Alex’s many contributions to the team and a nice selling piece on his future. My question is who is the analysis for? Did his agent commission it? Or did an NBA team? Are there similar analyses on others, like say Johni Broome? Interesting window into the “after combine” conversation.
From an article today: Forward Alex Condon also got a mention in the second round, projected to be taken by the San Antonio Spurs with the 36th overall pick in the draft. This rather bearish assessment seems to suggest that Florida's front court cornerstone will return to Gainesville for his junior campaign.
