Parking will be "fun" with a 4:30 softball Regional game. Plan on some extra time to get to the ballpark.
Anybody got a guess as to who we’re putting out there in the field and where they’re going? Same as how this game ended? I would be interested in a Lawson stripling swap. I think strip makes those throws a bit better from third and Lawson makes those picks on low throws better at first. guessing cyr is at 2nd again, so is outfield Wilson, Yost, Evans? But then who’s the dh? and then there’s the order…
Cyr played 3b at Miami, might work him there and get Lawson back to 2b (or 1b if Nadeau can go). Brookins and Wilson really have to step up now. Hate burning a redshirt this late but no real option
Somewhat hopeful we get Nadeau back. Don’t know exactly what he had going on other than he appeared to be bleeding. Hopefully it was just a bleeder that they could patch up and there’s no break or painful ripped off nail or something. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine how it all shakes out.
A "negative" x-ray was mentioned in the postgame (sorry if a repeat). Sounded like he might be ready to go on his time. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
What is the official injury on Luke? Did'nt see that but read some lines on here he is done (which is terrible news). Thanks for the info in advance. GO GATORS!!!!
Huge loss. I really feel for Luke. He had a lot to do with our resurgence this season. Speedy recovery!
Credit to Sully for last night's win. In all the fall and spring practices and scrimmages I went to, I never saw that lineup on th field at any time. It was interesting to watch the coaches huddle by the tunnel when Nadeau got hurt. There was lots of discussion and moving parts. Guys were running around trying to find Cyr an infield glove. Brookins went running into the tunnel, assuming the locker room fo his glove or something. All while the coaches talked. It was coaching on the fly at it's finest.
Obviously hate all the injuries, but Brookins was a guy I really liked in camp last year. He didn't get much opportunity last year, and don't think he's had any opportunity this year. I don't remember seeing him as much in camp this year either. Again, hate to see guys go down, but happy to see Blake get a shot. Hopefully he makes the best of it!
One more thing... I have no idea on a batting order but Sully might consider Caden McDonald at 1B. Last year in practice Caden backed up Cags at first when Heyman and Donay were catching split squads. He had a decent glove batted well enough. Just a thought.
Reality is it was a lot of luck that it all worked out. I can also imagine Sully and the coaches having thought through all sorts of worst case scenarios--it is what those in leadership roles do all the time. We are just fortunate that one of the best college baseball coaches calls Gainesville home. And hopefully for many more years!!
When we were so heavy in position players they had a talk with him and decided to just focus on pitching this year but he might be taking some infield practice today for sure.
