Penn State and Kennedy Martin, my new favorite team and player to root against. It worked for 2 years against the cornhuskers. Nebraska has dropped to second place.
As of 23 minutes ago per Volleytalk Flor has not entered the portal and she is still on the Gator roster.
Shame, she was going to compliment Martin very well and be the OH1. Hopefully the season is not a disappointment.
I had the privilege of meeting with the VB team along with Sharon Gallop, the president of the GAC, and her husband, Cary. He does the tech work for the club. Jackie Hensel, Director of Volleyball Operations, and her assistant, Caroline, were also there. The team, coaches, and staff were presented with a Wanderer+ Neck Pillow for their upcoming European Trip. CRT was there briefly, accompanied by his wife, Jenny, nee Manz. Rightside hitter Jenny Manz was a three-time first-team All-SEC selection and a two-time All-American. She was the SEC Player of the Year in 1998 and 1999. During her four-season career as a Gator, Manz had 152 service aces, the team won four consecutive SEC championships, and made NCAA Final Four appearances in 1996, 1997, and 1998. We had a bonus round. An UPD officer was present with a very friendly bomb-sniffing dog. Of course, all the ladies wanted to pet her. There were several softball ladies there also. We saw Korbe, Jocey, Cassidy, Lou, Mia, Rylee, Reagan, and Ava.
Yikes…the loss of Flormarie to the portal is unfortunate. Who do we have left as capable and not injured outside hitters?
Madkin should be good. Byrd was a high recruit and would thump balls in scrimmages but she never saw any action during season in her 2 years i think. Right now we basically have no back row attack unless someone develops into that 6 rotation hitter.
Ummm what? 30 plus years under Mary and I don't remember a whiff of racism or hazing. And with the same kids, I can’t imagine they suddenly changed who they are or that the new guy came in and said he was cool with it. Not calling anyone a liar, just seems crazy weird to be true.
This is what was said on VT: Per a reliable source, Flor is leaving Florida due to being hazed by white teammates, with the source saying one of the setters was the instigator leading the charge. Per the source, “Las gringas son tratadas diferente que los deportistas de color.” The spanish part is basically that the white girls were treated differently from the people of color. People on volleytalk seem ot be 50/50 on it
My brother and I regularly send each other emails with the subject "We're Doomed". The emails contain societal stories that are so bizarre, they don't seem plausible. Pending more details, I'll wait to see if this storyline falls in that category. And to buckeyegator's question. Will she be able to transfer and be immediately eligible? Is it possible she got cold feet about the transfer to UF? And knew such a claim was her only path to playing this year. Bizarre indeed.
But wait, isn’t almost half the team players of color? With Flormarie it was eight and now still seven. Something about the rumor is really odd in that context.
