that would have been a hot story so obviously it was fake. As for the interesting discussion, I think it would be a disaster as he had no AD experience and it’s not a learn on the job gig.

I see FB stories where the Gators flip a 5* stud every week. Fake.

Not just AD experience, any experience in anything other than being a player. He majored in Family, Youth and Community Services at UF, no relevant business experience, no management experience, and no job within sports other than broadcaster. Not bashing him, he’s done well post graduation and I assume has a higher net worth than I do, but this isn’t even remotely in the realm of possibility.
People have called for him to be our coach too despite the fact that he’s never coached a game on any level. It’s just funny to me how Tim is idolized so much that people are willing to believe stuff like this out of hand.

Lets forget about Tebow for a moment. I just want to make a point about college and how it prepares you for your working life.
Things change ever more rapidly in the world, you have to continuously adapt and educate yourself going through life. College education doesn't have the worth associated with it that it once did. Many people with 4 year degrees are struggling to get hired.

I believe that college classes don't actually prepare you for your job. They are vastly irrelevant, maybe a small percentage of skills might apply. What they do show is that you have ability to learn stuff, and to apply things that you have learned in your life in many different ways. You learn a lot more about how to do your job while working it, than in college. Personally I used a lot more of what I learned before college in my 50 or so years of employment. I never worked in the field I majored in and I know plenty of other people who also didn't. So to me it wouldn't be impossible for Tebow to be an AD, probably not for the very first time the UF AD. But for some less significant institution it would be quite feasible, if he wanted it.

Agree completely. It’s a proof statement that you are capable of learning - that you can learn, retain what you’ve learned by passing tests and classes, and finish what you started. It’s a 4-year program that you need to complete once you’ve started down that road. Simply taking college classes without earning the degree doesn’t mean much.

And there are plenty of alternative pathways to success besides going to college. But if you start it, finish it.

Charlie Kirk or whatever his name is has a good video on just that. If you take out the doctors, lawyers , and engineers, whick is 10% of degrees, trades make more money than the other 90%. Four of my six boys are in trades and one is at university of texas in neuro psychology. My money is on tgat college degree being the least profitable decision of my six boys. My oldest builds the best showers around, hes booked six months in advance and easily makes 100,000 a year. Its labor without sitting in an office but it does have its perks. Hes 33 and will have his first mortgage paid off in a few years.

Yep, Tim is on the latest episode of The Shawn Ryan Show podcast discussing this very topic among others. Highly recommended if you can handle the subject matter.

This is because we glorified "Getting a University Degree" while at the same time we stigmatized the dirty professions (mechanics, plumbers, HVAC etc.) resulting in a shortage of tradesman (good/honest ones especially) and they are in high demand in a lot of regions around the country. Where I live, within 10 miles of the Villages, the largest retirement community in the nation, it's darn near impossible to hire anyone because they are largest builder around and suck up all the best workers.

Very true. Comparing the career paths of my son and 3 of his fellow Eagle Scouts is an interesting comparison. My son is pursuing a mechanical engineering degree while one Eagle Scout is getting training at Duke to be a lineman. I imagine he will out-earn my son. the other 2 Eagles couldn't pour water out of a boot with the instructions ritten on the bottom. One is destined to be a janitor at Publix (current job) and when asked the other what he plans to do, his response was "I don't know, my mom hasn't told me yet". If you are a hiring manager and see Eagle Scout on an application, don't take it for granted that he is on the ball. Most are, some not.
