I’m not the one looking for the information. Someone asked about it. I gave a vague answer because the person asking knows they can just look it up

If you're talking about me it was a rhetorical question. I know how DOGE did. It was a disaster that will end up increasing the deficit.

Time for today's history lesson: what happened when one of the world's richest men was put in charge of U.S. government finances with a desire to cut spending. Not Elon Musk--this is about Andrew Mellon, who was Secretary of the Treasury under three presidents: Harding, Coolidge and Hoover. Like Musk, he continued to operate his businesses while working on the government. Like Musk, he screwed things up royally--so bad, in fact, that the net result was the Great Depression, which lasted over a decade. Mellon cut government spending by as much as 50% before the bottom dropped out of the economy.

A rhyme written on a urinal between Pittsburgh and Washington summed it up: "Mellon pulled the whistle, Hoover rang the bell; Wall Street gave the signal, and the country went to hell." To translate it to 2025: "Musk pulled the whistle, Trump rang the bell, Wall Street gave the signal, and the country went to hell."

Mellon resigned in disgrace after the Great Depression started and democrats took over Congress and started investigating him for interactions between his business interests and government contracts awarded to his businesses (sound familiar?).

100 years before Elon Musk, one of America's richest men came to fix Washington. It didn't end well.

Didn’t trump & musk promise they would save $1T? Why does maga keep believing these politicians - they are repeatedly proven to lie.

“According to the running tally on its website, DOGE claims it has saved American taxpayers a total of $170 billion. However, only $70.9 billion is itemized, and many of those entries continue to raise serious doubts about their accuracy.

Some have expressed skepticism, including Nat Malkus, a senior fellow at the conservative-leaning American Enterprise Institute. Malkus, who has been tracking DOGE's work, said his review indicates the savings is more likely to be around $80 billion.”

No wonder this failed. Elon is a drug abusing psychopath. Explains the typos, mistakes, errors, and fables DOGE fell for.

Elon Musk Juggled Drugs and Family Drama on Trump’s Campaign Trail - The New York Times

Mr. Musk had been using ketamine often, sometimes daily, and mixing it with other drugs, according to people familiar with his consumption. The line between medical use and recreation was blurry, troubling some people close to him.

He also took Ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms at private gatherings across the United States and in at least one other country, according to those who attended the events.

Yeah, I have known some drug addicts in my life. You can look at that guy and tell. Strange injuries. The skin losing color. The inability to focus or stand still. Look at the press conference today. That guy has a huge drug problem. I'm pretty sure it was hitting him during the press conference.

Elon paid Trump to get back at the regulators who were investigating his companies, nothing more.

His little tantrum called DOGE not only stole your personal data, failed at making significant cuts, but also put Elmo in the hole with his investors and damaged their investments in his companies. Sounds like a class action lawsuit to me!

It also proved once and for all that Republicans can't govern, let alone act like adults, or even demonstrate basic competency expected by a 3rd grader.

    Corrupt snowflakes.

Musk, the drug-addled special advisor to Donald Trump, decides to get physical during a confrontation with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and gets beaten up, winding up with a black eye. Elon Musk decided to shove Bessent to defend his record of useless government spending cuts, and to show who was the more important billionaire. Trump mouthpiece Leavitt called it part of a "healthy political process". Steve Bannon handled the play-by-play in the booth.

SNL has to be depressed knowing they can’t top this. They just can’t.

Sadly SNL's season is over. I would have loved to see another cold opening portraying yesterday's Donald and Elon clown show in the Oval Office.

Another failure by DOGE, or at least an indicator that it's not a serious effort: Kristi Noem is requesting a $50 million jet to transport her around in, even though there are two functional jets already at her disposal. The homeland cannot be secure unless Noem has the latest and greatest in luxury jets.

If she gets her jet, which comes out of the U.S. Coast Guard budget, the Coast Guard will have to live without modernizing the aircraft that are used for search and rescue, which is no longer deemed a useful function of the Coast Guard since most boaters know how to swim.

House Democrats demand answers from Noem on plans for $50M jet
