Nope. It appears that they asked him to leave and that he did (given that they arrested him from the public area).
Oh so it is legal to trespass as long as you leave when they ask you to.......I'm not sure that is how it happened but even if it is he was in the wrong trespassing in the first place.
That is not how it happened. He was trespassing and refused to leave after being asked a number of times. Then when they were fed up they decided to arrest him at which time he left and was arrested in the public area. Guess he thought he could do whatever he wants and then erase it all by leaving.
Actually, often, yes. Without an explicit prior directive not to enter the property, it likely isn't trespassing. That is why you can't have a person arrested for accidentally knocking on your door unless they refuse to leave your property. They were admitting a group of people from his group. He came with the group. When asked to leave, it appears that he did (although the government is claiming otherwise, the fact that he was arrested from a public area seems to be evidence that he did).
So companies operating federal leased facilities don’t have to follow permitting and safety inspections of their locations? Is that your argument?
I think maybe we should wait and see what the official outcome to that question is.....According to ICE reps they have permits and inspections for the plumbing and electrical upgrades....I know according to the left media they say different but I don't think any of us know for sure......What we do know is the mayor himself & the congressmen had no right to push their way in. You go through proper channels.
That's what I want to see too. What was the actual reasoning? Lots of bluster on both sides. They were outside the facility when arrested. Seems to me they did it to prove a point and it will get dismissed. Just a hunch.
Really, what to the left-leaning wingnuts that invaded the facility know about plumbing and electrical construction? Shouldn’t a properly certified inspector in each area of commercial construction perform the inspection? Furthermore, if the permit have been issued, wouldn’t they be on file either the city or county?
Tourists, man, they were tourists. We all hate whataboutism but we do want to maintain consistent standards, correct?
This is the perfect example of how the Liberal think, and I've been saying it for over 15 year right here in their forum.
Just reading the NYTimes article and seeing the videos, it sounds like someone at ICE made the decision that they wanted the Mayor arrested for trespassing once he was leaving. The Mayor made it to the public area in front of the security gate and then ICE Agents went out and arrested him. It looks like the Congress members are pushing ICE agents as they are forming a perimeter around the mayor while arresting him. I would assume the Congress members were trying to get back inside the facility to find out why the Mayor is being arrested and got caught up in the scrum. Not sure why ICE felt they needed to arrest the mayor at that moment. Not sure why the Congress members felt the need to push their way back in during the arrest. Seems like all of this could have been avoided.
Sounds like a decent “center”. Fox News Crashes The Scene: Inside The ICE Facility Dems Couldn't Wait To Storm! (VIDEO) Campos-Duffy, during her Monday appearance on "Fox & Friends," lauded the cleanliness and amenities of the facility. "They have nothing to be ashamed of. This facility is so clean. It has all kinds of recreation facilities – outdoor soccer fields, weight equipment, domino tables. It also has telephones everywhere with signs next to them of the phone numbers to reach their consulates," she reported. She further highlighted the availability of legal facilities, computers, and webcams, and noted that the detainees' sleeping quarters were not locked. "The facility actually looks like a high school, actually looks better than a lot of high schools, and a lot [of] our own prisons for American citizens could take a lesson from this facility," she added.
Maybe not the mayor, but the other "left-leaning wingnuts" were members of Congress that had the right to inspect the facility and not for plumbing and electrical construction but to observe the condition under which immigrants awaiting possible deportation were being held.
From the article and the videos, it appears that they had already been in the facility and inspected it. If that is the case, why did they try to re-enter the facility after the mayor was arrested? It does not seem like that would fall under the right to inspect the facility if they had already conducted and completed that inspection.
