Keys to winning the series the way I see it— 1) Pitchers have to live in pitcher’s counts/hit your spots. 2) Hitters have to hit it where it’s pitched/punish mistakes/don’t chase bs breaking balls. 3) Solid defense/Smart base running. THAT IS ALL.
No doubt, the weather delay was a big hit on our chances as Peterson appeared to have pretty good command and I sense he could have gone 6 and then Jake could take over....but... many of our hitters looked overmatched. 16Ks out of 27 outs. Not giving yourself a chance to win. To be fair - Texas has the kind of pitching that wins championships.
Top 5 hitters had 13 of those with hitters 6-9 only striking out 3 times including Donay with 0. Tough to make sense out of that.
I get the bottom half of the lineup doing better, but— Not really—as soon as you see video of our guy’s undisciplined swings at breaking balls down and away—at what point would you have your pitchers attack that weak link in the chain?
