Pro-Palestinian group storms Columbia Uni Library

I'm not sure why these people can't grasp that when you do this in a disruptive and annoying way it's more likely to sway public sentiment against you. I feel the same way about people who block roadways, throw paint on artwork, or glue themselves to the floor of buildings.

Anyone who was at that library to study, regardless of how sympathetic they may have been to the cause initially, is now going to have negative feelings.

Including those that are US citizens? Not defending any of them, they should all be prosecuted and those with student or work visas should be deported and if any of them have green cards their permanent residency status should be withdrawn. Just a guess it will probably turn out that a majority are US citizens since individuals with a temporary immigration status or even permanent residency wouldn't risk almost deportation. By the way they've been arrested.

Like I said, not a fan of that kind of rudeness … but if all they did was walk into the library and shout a few things … pull their visas and deport them? Really?

 

Oh the horror... deport immediately! We can't allow any semblance of free speech.

 

They were leaving of their own accord too to but they were prevented from leaving because they wanted to check people's IDs, that's what set off everything ... when they refused and tried to get out.

That’s what happened, huh? I saw several different videos and reports showing dumbass protesters taking over the library while innocent kids, who were studying for finals, got scared and fled (with many of them running off without their personal belongings). I also read that two Columbia Public Service employees had to be hospitalized, with one being carried off on a gurney. Finally, I read today that the library was badly vandalized causing thousands of dollars of damage.

This was all done before any decision was made to lock the rioters in the library was made. So let’s not mislead anyone into thinking this was ever a peaceful protest.
