He has not been shy of showing his hatred towards Israel and Israelis. In other threads, he has openly admitted feeling no empathy for the victims of October 7. There’s no sense debating with someone entrenched with that deep-seeded anger which has been buttressed by gross misinformation.
This logic is completely counterproductive. By using the term, you’re facilitating, indeed spreading, the lie. Your entire argument, spread over multiple posts, boils down to a disagreement with Israel’s response to being attacked. Specifically, you think retaliation through violence has failed to accomplish an objective, to wit, stopping the attacks of violence. Your argument is that rather than stopping the terrorism and attacks, Israel is just breeding new terrorists by its response-by-violence. That’s an argument worth debating. But by parroting the propaganda and lies, you take on a far different role. It is complicity in the overt PR campaign to spread hate against Jews, your own religion. Words matter.
You’ve nailed it. His overall argument is one I disagree with but nonetheless a viable argument. Then he undermines it with his use of inflammatory language that Hamas and others use, and justifies it by saying well everybody else says it whether it has merit or not. The contradiction is completely inexplicable.
I was listening to a podcast with Douglas Murray, who is very pro Israel, and his explanation is that much, perhaps a majority of the damage in Gaza is due to IDF detonating booby trapped homes and buildings by Hamas, not so much the bombing. I don’t have any way to verify that either way.
That take, combined with those pics, does indeed seem very pro Israel. After leveling hundreds of blocks, did the booby traps scrape the fields, too?
Are you not aware that a bunch of Israeli zealots stormed a prison where IDF soldiers were being held for rape and demanded their release? That was a pretty big story. I know the Gaza thread was dead for awhile ... but that happened. Israeli protesters storm military bases after soldiers detained for alleged abuse of Palestinian prisoners Israeli lawmaker defends alleged rape of Hamas prisoner as far-right protesters rage over IDF troops' detention You have Israeli politicians defending raping prisoners:
That's BS right there. You have tried to get me to say things because you dont like what I post, and I refused to play your game. Please post evidence if you are going to make these accusations or delete your post.
Show me. Show me where I’m wrong. Show me one post where you’ve demonstrated an ounce of empathy for the victims. I asked you repeatedly in other posts. You couldn’t muster it. So show us all.
People that support the Palestinians and call the Israelis criminals have the same attitude toward any situation where one side of the conflict has greater power than the other. Doesn't matter what the issue is. Just blind support of the weaker/ less influential regardless of right or wrong, just or unjust. Not sure who they would support between India and Pakistan since they are both nuclear powers. I suppose if I had to guess I'd say Pakistan.
Look, you said I've "openly admitted not feeling empathy for the victims" ... prove it . I've never made any statement of the kind and you know it.
What about the people that don't support either side. What about those of us that see this as a century long, barbaric conflict between two groups that both originally had valid grievences against the other, but we now understand that it has become an unwinnable / inhumane battle that can't be won short of complete and total annihalation of the opposition? What about us? The people that see both sides see the other the other side as non-human and perpetuate unspeakable acts against each other? What do we do? What is our attitude? This thread is littered with anti-semetic name calling because someone dares call out a particular side for doing heinous things. There are no "good guys" in this battle. There are plenty of good people on both sides and I, for one, would like to see those people lead happy prosperous lives. That isn't possible for anyone through force. Clearly. Anyway - yay team and yay death and destruction. Also I purposely made this one paragraph so that it was hard to read.
You are going around lying about what I've said and refused to prove it, I think that tells us who you are
I think the least anyone that feels like you do should demand that our government not take a side or arm either side of the conflict
Anti-Israel does not necessarily mean anti-Semitic. Pro-Israel does not mean anti-Muslim. But to your main point- you’re not on either side, and you see wrong in both sides. Fair enough. What’s your proposed resolution? I’m all for peace, always have been. Israel has offered and agrees to a two state solution. But that is not acceptable to the other side. They insist on total annihilation. What is Israel supposed to do? Capitulate and throw themselves in the Sea?
Obviously this is the most ideal way to be but at the end of the day, there will always be factions that can't just "live and let live" or "treat others as you would like to be treated". I don't like our government supporting anyone's war effort but I suppose there is a reason to support them (Ukraine too). Mainly keeping a friendly democratic nation in the area. I suppose if we didn't support Israel, maybe they would get wiped off the map and I suppose that's a result, but they also could feel backed into a corner and start letting loose some nukes. Not ideal.
