Zero chance Reuben would go G League over returning, right? If it's not a two way contract it's like $50K a season or something. That has to be an order of magnitude less money and several orders of magnitude a suckier season. I'm happy he got the invite and hope he gains some valuable insight. I really hope Will can 3 and D his way into a 2-way contract!
Saw it reported earlier today that Condon is a likely 2nd round NBA pick. Does he come back if in the 2nd round? I have no idea how much 2nd rounders sign for.
It's unknown how much international players can make via NIL under the current rules. Not sure what kind of visas Rueben and Condo are on, but from what I understand there are work authorization restrictions on the typical F1 student visa and so NIL has to be very carefully structured to not jeopardize the visa.
I love the kid, his effort and his coming back so soon after he sprained his ankle and the emergency dental work he had to get; I try not to criticize a decision to leave early. A good coach will have the honesty and finesse to explain all of the possibilities, good and not so good to the players. In this case, I really think it would be to his benefit to remain in college and get better, hopefully a lot better and improve his draft position and compensation. He could get much better with another year, I believe.
Apparently the NBA Combine events will air live on ESPN2 this week starting at 2:00 Wednesday. If anyone gets that network could they please summarize events affecting our Gators prospects (for the rest of us who don’t get that)? I think Combine events can also be streamed on ESPN+.
Saw where Johnny Broom had a 24.5” vertical st the combine. Big Dez Watson did 25” at the NFL combine weighing over 200 lbs more than Broom. And Walt did 37”!!!
Walt would shock people with his vertical. It's what caused Sharpe to panic and throw the ball to the floor with 4 seconds left in the season. Walt was UP there.
Over the last two years, John Eye Broome became one of my least favorite players. He whined and complained and went into histrionics all game, every game, but would also shove players hard in the back when he thought no one was looking.
You are correct! The loophole is that they are not formal employees. I am guessing language in their F1/I-20 will be updated once revenue sharing starts.
And how many centers playing defense, without pads, are glad they don't have Dez coming toward them down the lane.
