The portal for college tennis is now open and will be for the next month. The tennis portal is busy as more than 250 division one players have already declared for the portal. Our Gator men's tennis program will of course be impacted by the transfer portal as will most top national teams. The bottom line is our program needs to be impacted positively by player movement. The goal is simple, protect the core players already at Florida, while making additions that upgrade the talent level on next year's team. The new roster size rule for division one will in fact be affect for next year. Tennis will be allowed a roster of nine players. How many scholarships will be available is still under review. I sure hope that men's tennis will finally get out from under the cloud of title nine, which saw our program limited to 4.5 scholarships. Alot of these questions will be answered in the next month. As you can imagine, this is a very busy time for our coaching staff.
