A growing number of Venezuelan voters in South Florida, once among President Donald Trump's most loyal supporters, are rethinking their allegiance as his administration's moves on immigration have taken a toll on their fellow citizens.

A new poll released Monday by Florida International University's Latino Public Opinion Forum shows the GOP is losing its grip on this crucial voting bloc, as the White House moves quickly to end protections for Venezuelan migrants and ramp up mass deportations.

    Why It Matters
Since his January 20 inauguration, President Trump has rolled out sweeping immigration changes, marking a sharp escalation of his hardline enforcement agenda. These efforts have expanded deportations—even targeting noncitizens who had previously been granted legal permission to live and work in the United States.

I have no sympathy for these folks. They were told that Harris was the only true American patriot but they wouldn't listen

It's basically because the Democrat party is strongly compared to the communist Cuban government by Republicans; and, being the skilled fearmongers they are, the Republican party got them believing that "if you vote democrat, you're bringing your communist regime to the US." Many Cubans and Venezuelans fell for this far too easily.

100%. In fairness, it doesn’t help the Democrats keep putting policies on the table that are socialist in nature (voters don’t know that Communism and Socialism are different). It also doesn’t help that AOC and Bernie get crowds and folks like Witmer, Pritzker, Beshear are behind.

Dems need to drag Congressional Pubs into Trump’s decisions. Blaming Trump is dumb and wasted air as a
lame duck. Have to blame all his sycophants in Congress.

Big nothing burger. The article says that Florida is home to nearly half of the Venezuelan population in the U.S. with some 118,000 alone residing in Miami-Dade County. How many of those 118k can even vote? They interviewed 408 and less than half voted for Trump. I don't see the numbers there to mean anything if they are even accurate.

I agree with you on this one.
It took a severe lack of common sense to vote trump in 2016.
It took a complete lack of common sense, ethics, and basic human decency to vote trump in 2024.
    So, NOW they wake up?!?
    Doubtful, Golphin.
MAGA’s don’t have the bandwidth for it.
