Yeah, but history tells us that something bad will have to happen in between. Remember, these are people who want to destroy the literal best epoch in human history from the standpoint of real things like mortality, disease and even relative wealth. That fever of ignorance isn't breaking easily, especially when you're as emotionally invested as MAGA is. They're not just going to settle back to normal. It's going to take a hard shock of some kind.

Not sure how milk would be affected by tariffs. Not saying it isn't. If so, please explain.

For all the talk of Trump, we havent talked enough about the sway of Silicon Valley right-wingers in the GOP. These people think more like feudal lords than people interested in lower-case republicanism. I remember Peter Thiel saying that his conception of "freedom" wasn't compatible with democracy. It was one thing when they were talking about sea-steading to live out their anti-social fantasies, its another when you've captured the US government.

Good point. A few years ago, I read an article on the “new right”, who I think are in the camp of which you speak. Inside the New Right, Where Peter Thiel Is Placing His Biggest Bets

    I
ndeed, this journalist’s experiences make it seem like these people have little ambition but to destroy and control. But control what? And how? These don’t seem as obvious. It is frightening indeed. I can only hope they don’t become a dominant force in politics.

Not about tariffs, my comments are about how worsening economic conditions (such as milk costs rising) will cause a small but notable amount of MAGA people to soften their Trump support.

Trump is doing what he said he would do. Real wages now growing faster than inflation. US born workers now doing better than foreign born workers. Trump approval is above water by 3-4.5%. Democrat pollsters are lying about Trump's approval, Richard Baris and Rasmussen Reports are on target. Robert Barnes and Baris discuss:

After falling from the Covid lockdown in 2020 through the second quarter of 2022, real wages have been rising. It's the economy that Trump inherited from Biden. By the way the increase in real wages that the US experienced during the first three years of the first Trump Administration was a continuation of a trend that began over two years earlier under Obama and the current trend will probably be coming to an end very soon thanks to the Trump tariffs which have a similar effect on the economy that the Smoot Hawley Tariff Act had over 95 years earlier.

Why did you not respond to any of my posts when Trump was down in the Rasmussen polls. He's up again and now you choose to respond?

Yes there is. I wouldn't tolerate him reading his speeches off a teleprompter then when finished walking off the stage ignoring questions from the press and having to have his wife take him by the arm and lead him off stage. I wouldn't tolerate him sleeping all day. I wouldn't tolerate him sniffing the hair of and fondling little girls oh & boys. I don't think I would tolerate him showering with his daughter. Must I go on?

That's terrible stuff. Worse, than, say ...... trying to criminally overturn an election. Or cheating on your wife repeatedly. Or sexually assaulting women.

Thanks for pointing all of that out.

Out of curiosity, @flgator2, who do you consider your intellectual fathers? I’m assuming not Locke, Burke, and Madison?
