$40.5M over 6. Starts at $6m/year and increases $300k per year. That's an average of $6.75M/year. He'll be the 6th highest paid coach next year. 1. Self 8.8 2. Calipari 8.0 3. Hurley 7.75 4. Izzo 6.2 5. Cronin 6.1 6. Golden 6.0 7. Pearl 5.98 8. Barnes 5.8 9. Drew 5.4 10 Lloyd 5.25
2 things I really like here. 1, this seems quite fair to say the least. He's basically a top 5 paid coach, in the company of the contemporary greats. A helluva "thank you". 2. this agreement shows that we can put any potential concerns over how things happened with the unspeakable behind us for good.
Less State Income Tax: 1. Self 8.8 (Kansas--5.58%--$157,706) 2. Calipari 8.0 (Arkansas--3.90%--$312,000) 3. Hurley 7.75 (Connecticut--6.99%--$541,725) 4. Izzo 6.2 (Michigan--4.25%--$263,500) 5. Cronin 6.1 (California--13.3%--$811,300) 6. Golden 6.0 (Florida--No State Income Tax) 7. Pearl 5.98 (Alabama--5%--$299,000) 8. Barnes 5.8 (Tennessee--No State Income Tax) 9. Drew 5.4 (Texas--No State Income Tax) 10 Lloyd 5.25 (Arizona--2.5%--$131,250) .
Really like that contract. The NBA buyout is only 3 million and decreases every year. I don’t think we will ever lose him to another college. Good stuff.
Well deserved raise! In 3 years he has brought back pride and enthusiasm to the school's sports program. UF was in the spotlight nation wide and that really hasn't been done in a long long while. I would imagine sales of UF merchandise has risen and now more fans are wearing them with pride everywhere. He has captured in his third year a national championship in one of the three main sports, football, baseball and basketball. Funny how UF may end up being a basketball school depending upon what BN does.
Exactly. If he goes to the NBA, so be it. I don't think that's attractive to him, having never played or coached at the NBA level, but it's a pretty positive sign of a program's success to lose a national title winning coach to the league (SOS, Donovan). On the one hand, I could see him tiring of the roster volatility, greedy handlers, and unregulated recruiting at this level, but I also think he is a natural for the portal/NIL era: A) He has a ton of experience at smaller programs cobbling together rosters with transfers, international kids, etc., so he knows how to work with the personnel fluidity, and B) he has a very specific profile he looks for with very specific metrics he uses to evaluate for it, so he won't get caught in bidding wars or signing kids for inflated prices that decimates team chemistry or creates a top-heavy roster (and we saw him exercise that discernment with both Aberdeen and Claude recently). He really is the perfect coach for the game right now. Complete package of analytics, adaptability, program design, and relatable for players.
If you have to go into your boss's office to ask for a raise, doing it right after you won a national championship is pretty good timing.
